I find it interesting that Sturgeon has chosen to slag off JKR & Joanna Cherry.
One a globally successful author, the other a successful KC. Nicola a failed solicitor & wanna be author revealing exactly who she is.
Jealousy much?
Stay classy Nicola.🫣
@Keir_Starmer stood shoulder to shoulder with our allies .. united.. resolute and showing true leadership when it mattered.
Burnham?
Nowhere to be seen.
No solidarity.
No statesmanship.
No sense of duty .. just self interest.
Leadership is about standing with others..not standing for yourself @andyburnham
Yesterday BBC Three Counties devoted almost 30 minutes of airtime to three male contributors - for a discussion about whether men who identify as women should use female toilets.
Presenter Jonathan Vernon-Smith spoke to:
1. Robin Moira White - a male barrister who identifies as a woman (approx 12 mins)
2. Nora Padilla - policy manager at trans-rights campaign group TransActual (approx 5 mins)
3. “Michelle” from Watford - a male who identifies as a woman (approx 11 mins)
Vernon-Smith did offer some challenge - reading out messages supporting single-sex toilets and inviting women who objected to men in their single sex spaces to call in.
But why wasn’t a gender-critical guest invited onto the show in the first place? And why did the discussion seem to centre around personal preference - rather than matters of law?
The most extraordinary section was the lengthy interview with a man called “Michelle” from Watford (we’ve included the clip here), who - as well as saying he does use women’s toilets - made the following statements:
“All I want to do is […] wash hands, check the lipstick and come out.”
“I usually get some nice compliments about the outfit and accessories I’m wearing.”
“We don’t want to be challenged every time we go to powder our nose.”
“Why do you think we want to be women? Because we love and respect everything feminine.”
These comments - which clearly stereotype womanhood - went largely unchallenged.
And when Michelle said women didn’t mind sharing toilets with him, Vernon-Smith didn’t ask the obvious question: might they object, but feel too afraid to say?
Michelle also volunteered that he had not “fully transitioned”. Yet Vernon-Smith did not explore why a male who retains his male anatomy believes he should use facilities where women are attending to intimate bodily needs.
Almost 30 minutes for three male contributors to discuss women’s toilets - but no female guest booked to explain why single-sex spaces matter.
That’s the editorial choice worth examining.
No column from me in @scotonsunday this weekend. Embarrassingly, they’ve been conned into running this faked extract from Nicola Sturgeon’s forthcoming crime novel, “The Intolerably Long Goodbye”, instead. Heads must roll.

Welcome to the Desert of the Unreal, the Desert of Scottish Cultural life. Scotland is ruled by a coalition of chancers, brutes, sexual predators, cowards reaching out for the main chance, tartan-knickered fantasists chanting their shibboleth word, 'Independence'.
WHERE IS OUR PRIME MINISTER? Riots in Thetford, massive Russian strikes in Kyev, unprecedented drought, continuing issues on the international stage, no connection with the EU. We need the real PM back now please #neveBurnham#standwithstarmer
Hyde Park in London is looking more like a desert than a city park: the grass has dried brown, leaving vast barren patches where green lawns used to be. This comes as England and Wales just recorded their driest July in nearly 200 years, with rainfall at around 10% of average.
They were all killed by russia at Kvitneva railway station.
They were just waiting for a train.
Just ordinary people trying to get home.
They could still be alive if Ukraine had enough interceptors to shoot down russian ballistic missiles.
Remember that.
"She wasn’t even any good at independence. Having been bequeathed a healthy, united and well-run party of independence which shook the British establishment to its Union Jack foundation garments, she proceeded to squander it. After promising a referendum in almost every year since 2016, Ms Sturgeon declared in 2017 there would be “a reset” which reimagined it by 2021."

🚨 Elon Musk is currently refusing to allow Ukraine to use Starlink to conduct strikes on Russian territory, reportedly arguing that it is time for Ukraine to reach a peace agreement, according to The Atlantic.
It’s unfortunate that Musk still seems to misunderstand the fundamental problem: Ukraine is not the obstacle to peace — Russia is.
Ukraine did not invade Russia. Russia invaded Ukraine.
A “peace deal” cannot be achieved simply by restricting Ukraine’s ability to defend itself while the aggressor continues its war.
Climate Crisis.
'The alarming charts that reveal a planet in peril – as experts warn record-breaking heatwaves are just the start'.
The good news.
“There is still time for us to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, and every fraction of a degree of avoided warming matters."
The need for decisive climate action is urgent.
“This requires governments not just to stick to their commitments to reducing emissions, but to close the gap between commitments and policies that they are delivering.”
Professor Elizabeth Robinson, Head of the Grantham Climate Institute at the London School of Economics

David Attenborough: climate change is humanity’s biggest threat in thousands of years.
NASA scientists: it’s going to be as bad as a huge asteroid hit to the planet and billions of people may die.
World famous scientists: it may bring about the end of human civilisation.
Farmers: the food supply is at risk.
Radio presenter: Nah. That’s not true.
Reminder: scientists say next year is going to be significantly hotter than this year.
The media still refuse to treat the climate crisis like the global emergency scientists say it is.
The media are the problem.
Imagine writing a memoir - i.e. a book about your self - and then going on a round of self promoting book tours where you accuse people of being obsessed by you 🤷♀️

Has it occurred to anyone that a real beneficiary of ousting Starmer is Putin.
Keir was integral to the European support of Ukraine. Who, how many in labour are funded/working for Putin agents?
