Thanks @WhitmoreJen for speaking for Irish people, Human rights & common sense. IHRA definition of Antisemitism is wrong. Almost all EU governments have been influenced into adopting it, thus chilling criticism of Israel. Our government should not adopt it https://t.co/uP89jju1Ug
Our letter in today’s @IrishTimes on Govt position on the Occupied Territories Bill. Legal & technical amendments to strengthen it are no big issue - but watering it down to exempt services totally different. A policy choice, at odds with both the ICJ and pre-election promises.
@JustinMcKenna@NiamhbWalshe Read the room. Our President has a mandate from the Irish people including a significant quiet % of the Jewish community to say Never Again genocide against any people, Never Again official silence and appeasement because we are only 1 small voice
@IrishTimes@IrishTimesOpEd I have lived and worked in England and found openness, support and remarkable little prejudice against Irish people. The article seems to do a disservice to several groups
@IrishTimes@IrishTimesOpEd There is always a cost to speaking up - attracting criticism and reawakening prejudice. President Higgins honours the memory of Holocaust victims when he insists Never Again is silence acceptable. See also the much bigger loaded guns being provided by British & US establishment
@EPAResearchNews@ucddublin@WeAreTUDublin@UCC Please be clearer. I use the public domestic wastewater system but I think you want septic tanks users and other private system users - am I right?
@BSBIbotany@wildflower_hour Lesser Celandines, the advance scouts of Spring, peeking through once again to challenge the earlier Winter Heliotrope incasive dominance - at least here around North Wicklow https://t.co/mfoxFWJBzX
Thank you President Higgins for your dignified moral leadership, your remembrance of the Holocaust, and it's inspiration of our active vigilence against all hate, all racism, all othering, all genocide, all ecocide, & for universal human rights, peace & justice
#NeverAgainIsNow
President Michael D. Higgins and his wife Sabina this afternoon attended the National Holocaust Memorial Day Commemoration at the Mansion House in Dublin. Your can read the President’s address at https://t.co/sK5cHfQ9Oe
@DarraghOBrienTD@fiannafailparty@MichealMartinTD Comhgairdeas a Aire. Beir bua! The key department for our future wellbeing. Will nature & water (which u previously championed w MoS Malcolm Noonan) return to be key central part of Environment as it is in reality & in every other state & in EPA SOE 2024 report & recommendations?
@SocDems@OCallaghanCian Please endore the expert UN position & Action Plan on Antisemitism: https://t.co/R4jUA4aE2o
It does not endorse IHRA definition & clarifies that criticism of Israeli government is not antisemitism per se, unless it is accompanied by hatred of Jews #NeverAgainIsNow#stopgenocide
We look forward to engaging with new Ministers & call for the reinstatement of a Minister of State for Nature.
After a very disapointing PfG, this would be a welcome 1st step in showing leadership at tackling the climate & biodiversity crises
