@DreamsInFrames Perfect said, as always 🤷🏽♀️
“So, when people say Alya doesn't love Cihan as much as he loves her, I have to wonder if we're all watching the same show 🤷♀️”
@DreamsInFrames Exatamente, penso a mesma coisa.
Alya Left Because She Couldn’t Stop Saving Everyone Else.
Reading @mauraaanka’s analysis made me look at the finale from a different angle.
One of the most common reactions to #UzakŞehir’s season finale is simple:
“I don’t agree with Alya’s decision.”
Fair enough.
Neither do I.
But I don’t think that’s the most interesting question.
The real question is whether the decision fits the person Alya has always been.
And unfortunately…
It does.
Alya has never been driven by her own happiness.
She’s driven by responsibility.
By guilt.
By self-sacrifice.
By the impossible need to protect everyone—even when no one is protecting her.
Boran understood that.
He didn’t threaten her relationship with Cihan.
He threatened her conscience.
He knew she could survive heartbreak.
He knew she couldn’t survive believing she had stolen a father from another child.
That’s why she left.
Not because she stopped loving Cihan.
But because she spent so long loving everyone else that she never learned how to choose herself.
That part makes perfect sense.
The problem begins afterward.
Because in trying to save one child…
Alya unintentionally places another child in exactly the position she spent two seasons trying to protect him from.
Deniz.
Throughout the series, Alya has fought to preserve one thing above everything else:
Deniz’s childhood.
She hid her fears.
She swallowed her grief.
She carried every burden herself so he wouldn’t have to.
Until the finale.
When she tells him,
“I’m very weak right now.”
It’s one of the most heartbreaking lines in the entire series.
Not because Alya finally breaks.
But because, for the first time, Deniz stops being the child.
And starts becoming the adult.
He comforts her.
He guides her.
He tells her it’s time to leave.
Without realizing it, Alya repeats the very emotional pattern that shaped her own childhood.
She spent years carrying the emotional weight of her mother.
Now Deniz begins carrying that same emotional weight.
That’s what makes the ending so unsettling.
Not because Alya leaves Mardin.
But because trauma rarely disappears.
It simply changes direction.
Which is why Season 3 faces a much bigger challenge than introducing Enver or filming beautiful scenes in Budapest.
The real story isn’t whether Cihan should chase Alya.
In fact, he shouldn’t.
If he does, Alya’s story becomes one where someone else once again makes the defining choice for her.
Again.
The woman who arrived in Mardin had no choice.
The woman who returns should have one.
Because if Alya comes back, it cannot be because Cihan convinced her.
It cannot be because Enver wasn’t enough.
It cannot be because circumstances forced her.
She has to return because, for the first time in her life, she chooses freely—not out of guilt, not out of fear, but out of love.
And in doing so, she finally understands something she’s never allowed herself to see:
Leaving didn’t only hurt Cihan.
It asked Deniz to grow up too soon.
And that’s the one thing Alya has always sworn she would never do.
Only then does her return become more than a love story.
It becomes the moment she finally breaks the cycle instead of repeating it.
Because the bravest thing Alya could ever do was never leaving Mardin.
It was finally choosing herself without having to stop loving everyone else.
@ayyapim@cataykerem78
@mauraaanka That’s the point. I understand why Alya leaves. The thought that Cihan could lose another son “because of her” and the war with Boran broke her. It wasn’t just about Sehrat; it was about Cihan, his chance at fatherhood, and a war that would never end. But she forgot about Deniz💔
