In Texas, this dog was labeled “DANGEROUS.”
Look at her.
Nine pounds. Absolutely terrifying, right? 😉
Yet a Texas city declared this little dog “dangerous” and hit the owner with a $525 fine.
No mauling. No injury at all.
A woman at a dog park simply claimed the dog “scared her.”
That’s it.
This is why cases like Hachi, Jack, Zak, and #SaveLucy matter so much. When laws are stretched this far, any dog and any owner can become the next target.

I hate the spotlight. The stage is a scary place. I just want a quiet life. But this cause is worth it. Lucy is worth it.
This is not just about Lucy. What has happened to me and Lucy will happen again.
It will repeat, over and over. In Kalamazoo, Michigan. In Walla Walla, Washington. In Schenectady, New York. To Joe and Buddy. To Mike and Sadie. To Jane and Teddy.
It will happen to them, but nobody will know. They will love their dogs no less than I love Lucy, but nobody will hear their story. It will not steal the spotlight the way Lucy's story has.
They will cry out for justice, but it will be in vain. Few will listen. Few, but the Lord above will.
God put Lucy and me in the spotlight to be their voice. To advocate for Joe, Mike, and Jane. To advocate for Buddy, Sadie, and Teddy. To push for change.
Lord, let me live up to the responsibility you have placed on my shoulders.
This crap needs to never happen again. Never, never, never, never, never.

I once owned a music school. It was a thriving little place that employed several teachers and nearly 100 students. When COVID happened, we shut down for the initial “two weeks to flatten the curve.” Then I reopened. We offered online lessons. Families could choose masks if they wanted. My incredible teachers, from both sides of the political aisle, never stopped showing up to work. I became a publicly outspoken advocate against the illegal government mandates. I spoke up for the rights of small business-owners to remain open and run their businesses how they saw fit without fear of government interference or being shut down for “noncompliance”
But student attendance never truly recovered.
I kept that school open far longer than I should have from a financial standpoint. But I was not going to roll over while the government destroyed small businesses, livelihoods, the arts, and people’s sense of normal through fear, pressure, and overreach.
That experience fundamentally changed me.
And it’s exactly why I refuse to quietly accept what is happening with our dog Lucy.
When the government oversteps, acts unjustly, and attempts to destroy the lives people have worked so hard to build, I fight.
I will not be bullied or intimidated by the government, or by petty neighbors who think they should have the right to dictate how my family should live.
This isn’t about rebellion, stubbornness, or me being “out of touch,” as one neighbor texted me. This is about standing against powers that overstep and bullies who attempt to rule through fear, pressure, and intimidation.
It’s about teaching our children that it is not only acceptable, but right, to stand up for yourself—especially when there is a much larger principle at stake.
This is about preserving freedoms, exposing the holes in laws and systems that can be weaponized against ordinary families, and fighting to ensure future generations still have the privilege of pursuing the American dream and the rights that come with it.
Lucy, that scraggly, beautiful pearl from the desert who became our family’s protector and guardian of our flocks has become a symbol of something far bigger than herself.
Watching people rally around our family and this cause has been a hopeful reminder that Americans still stand up for what is just and worth protecting. I truly believe something meaningful and beautiful will come from it.
We just want our dog back. We just want to live in peace. And now, we want to prevent others from suffering as we have.

The Shenandoah County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office has reportedly been averaging 300 calls/voicemails in support of Lucy a day. We must keep the momentum going.
We have an important court date coming up, and this is the time to keep speaking up for Lucy.
📞 Please call: Shenandoah County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office:
(540) 459 6129
Say: Hi, I’m calling about the dangerous dog case involving Lucy, owned by U.S. Army veteran Brendan Jones in Shenandoah County. I’m asking that Lucy be returned to her owner immediately.”
Please be respectful when calling. And please continue sharing Lucy’s story.
If you prefer email: [email protected]
It has now been one month since Lucy's collar slipped over her head. One month since she was loose in my yard for a few seconds. One month since nobody got hurt. One month since nothing happened.
It has also been one month since the police were called. One month since animal control issued me a court summons. One month since they took my dog, the dog I bonded with in war ten years ago. One month since my world turned into a living hell.
It has been one month since nothing happened. And it has been one month since everything happened, in response to nothing.
She has spent one month in jail. Over nothing. Away from everything. One month away from her fields. Away from Lex. Away from the kids. Away from @Herb_Minstrel and me.
Let her come home. It's been long enough. It's time. It's damn time.

This is one of the hardest things we have ever had to share. We are not the kind of people who like to ask for help. We have always believed in putting our heads down, working hard, trusting God, and doing everything we can to carry the weight ourselves. But there comes a point where the truth is bigger than pride, and our customers, followers, supporters, and everyone deserves to know what is really happening.
Right now, we are in a legal battle with a major meat processor. And while this fight has our name on it, it is much bigger than our family alone. Small producers, family ranchers, and farmers spend generations building something they are proud of, only to come up against an industry that too often protects power over people, profit over principle, and control over transparency. The effects do not stop with the people raising the food. They reach every person purchasing meat because corruption and lack of transparency in the beef industry affect the food system as a whole and the trust families place in what they buy and feed their loved ones.
This fight has cost us deeply. Between personal health struggles and the weight of this battle, we have had to make sacrifices we never wanted to make. We have had to cut back on our restaurants and e-commerce. We have sold cattle to help pay attorney fees. We have carried stress, heartbreak, and pressure that, at times, have felt impossible to explain.
But we are still here, and we are still fighting. We are fighting for our family, for our ranch, for the values we were raised on, and for every small rancher and farmer who has ever felt crushed under a system that was never built to protect them.
So today, we are asking for help. If you believe in family ranches, quality food, hard work, and a more transparent, healthy, and clean food system, please stand with us. One of the best ways you can support us right now is by purchasing our beef at https://t.co/Suyrin9ECS.
We started a GoFundMe for those who want to be part of something bigger than our family alone. If you want to help us keep fighting, please consider donating and helping us fight for farmers, ranchers: https://t.co/Tw3VTcsLBI
He was brought in by his owners, scared and trembling in the kennel. As the shelters intake team always does, they explained the reality—that he is at high risk for euthanasia due to overcrowding.
The wife’s response? “Do what you have to do.”
The husband quietly asked staff to please help him. It’s heartbreaking, and honestly, it’s hard not to feel angry for Chance.
Chance is a stunning, neutered 1.5-year-old German Shepherd who should be enjoying life—not sitting in a shelter after being abandoned.
When I first met him, he was curled up in the back of his kennel, completely shut down and terrified. He just needed time. And that’s the thing about dogs—they live in the moment. I came back the very next day, and he had adjusted.
Chance walked out of his kennel and ignored all the barking dogs, showing us the beautiful dog he truly is. He is a big, magnificent boy and allowed full handling with ease. We introduced him to Heide, and he did wonderfully—calm, appropriate greetings with polite tail sniffs. When Heide turned toward him face-to-face, Chance responded with a playful bow, showing great social skills and a sweet, playful nature.
He passed his evaluation and absolutely deserves a chance at life.
Right now, Chance is in the same shelter as Rocky, No Name, and Thor—and they are at CODE RED capacity. FULL.
Time is critical.
If you can open your home to foster Chance and give him the second chance he deserves, please email me ASAP.
Plea sent out at 7:51am this morning 🙏
This is like his fifth plea sent out and he has run out of time.
He’s now at risk of euthanasia and urgently needs a foster for VGSR, or an adopter from the Roanoke, VA shelter. 💔

Today I want to talk about my brother Pete (to me) — @DocPete4Texas to you.
For those who truly know him, you know this moment didn’t just “happen.” It is the culmination of an entire life lived in service.
Green Beret.
Flight surgeon.
Doctor.
Father.
Son.
Brother.
Protector.
Caregiver.
A man who has spent his life standing between danger and the innocent.
And now, he has run what many are calling one of the most fiscally efficient campaigns in the history of this country — challenging the Governor of Texas in the Republican primary. Not because he wanted a title. Not because he wanted power. And certainly not because of the pay.
He did it because he believes Texas deserves leadership rooted in courage, conviction, commitment, and faith.
Over the last several months, I’ve watched him do something that speaks volumes about his character. Before stepping into this race, he actually read the full job description of Governor — word for word — to understand exactly what the role requires. That’s who he is. He does his homework. He studies. He prepares. He takes responsibility seriously.
He isn’t chasing a position.
He’s answering a calling.
Everything he’s done his entire life has been about protecting others — from the battlefield to the operating room to the families he’s served and the children he’s defended.
And today, as Texans head to vote, I ask you to remember this:
Vote your conscience.
Vote as if you were protecting your own home.
Vote as if your children’s future depended on it.
Because that’s how Pete approaches leadership — like a man safeguarding his own house.
Strength.
Courage.
Faith in God.
Commitment to doing what is right — not what is easy.
I couldn’t be more proud to call him my brother. Please Like, Repost & Vote For Pete!!

Call to action: Trump's Dep't of Education is about to exclude naturopathic doctors from the definition of professional degree. If that occurs, it will greatly limit these more natural minded doctors from getting loans to enter the profession. Please add your voice - complete the form in the link below (@aanp@naturopathnews)

Monsanto/@Bayer just filed its brief to the U.S. Supreme Court and what they’re asking for is staggering.
If they win, one ruling could wipe out thousands of state-level lawsuits against pesticide companies across America. Not because the products were proven safe. Not because juries weighed the evidence and cleared them.
But because federal law would override the right of states and everyday people to hold them accountable.
Everyone should be watching this. We must stop the mass poisoning of America.

I CANNOT WAIT to see who @FortBendCounty chooses to prosecute this TOTAL DISASTER of a case. They will have to stand up in court and argue for k☠️lling Hachi, a German Shepherd who has a pet bunny. A PET BUNNY. People are saying they’ve never seen anything like it.
That poor attorney will have spent YEARS and a fortune on law school just to absolutely destroy their reputation on a case the ENTIRE WORLD IS WATCHING. Sad. VERY SAD!
And to add to the absolute DUMPSTER FIRE of a case, this is the ONLY CASE IN RECENT HISTORY where the Left and the Right came together. Totally united. Why? To save the life of a dog named Hachi. Everyone loves Hachi. Nobody wants this injustice. Nobody. #SaveHachi
The biggest story of last year, and probably the biggest story of the coming year, is the widespread discovery of the fact that we have never been more accountable to government, which can see into our lives with unprecedented clarity and monitor our utterances to the word, while it has never been less accountable to us.
On the verge of Artificial General Intelligence, so we're told, we still can't count votes, police billion dollar frauds, penetrate the chambers of elite decisionmaking, or figure out where much of our money is going and what's being done with it. This is the kind of crisis that undermines the basic legitimacy of nations and regimes. How we deal with it, or don't, will determine our fate.
Deaf children without cognitive disabilities can develop them when denied full access to language (note: speech is NOT language). In the United States, as many as 70% of deaf children are at risk of permanent cognitive impairment and lifelong language deficiencies due to organizations like the Alexander Graham Bell Association and Hands & Voices restricting access to American Sign Language.
It needs to be the law that every deaf child has full access to language, with American Sign Language recognized as an essential right. Deaf children can acquire spoken language skills later or alongside ASL, but they need full access to a complete language from the start. Spoken language alone is not sufficient because it relies on hearing, which cannot be fully accessed even with hearing aids or cochlear implants.
Without a fully accessible language, children risk cognitive, social, and academic delays. Visual languages like ASL provide complete linguistic access from the beginning, supporting healthy brain development and fully developed communication skills. American Sign Language is so much easier for deaf children to acquire and use than spoken language because it is fully visual. Unlike speech, which relies on hearing they may not access, ASL allows immediate, complete communication and supports natural language development from the start
Shockingly, only one in four families with deaf children use sign language, leaving most children without full access to a natural, visual language during critical developmental years.
Just because a deaf child can speak some words doesn’t mean they fully understand spoken language. True comprehension requires accessible language, spoken or signed. Most hearing children naturally pick up language through exposure (incidental learning), including learning sign language in some cases, while deaf children are often consistently denied access to a fully accessible language during critical early intervention years.
Research indicates that approximately 80% to 90% of language acquisition in hearing children occurs incidentally, through overhearing conversations and observing social interactions in their environment. This natural exposure facilitates the development of vocabulary, grammar, and social communication skills. Deaf children miss out on this natural learning process if they are require to "hear." Without early exposure to a complete language, they start school with limited vocabulary and understanding, impacting their cognitive, social, and academic development. They're already 5 years BEHIND on the very first day of school!
Something a deaf high school student told me a couple of weeks ago keeps replaying in my mind. He spoke with clear, understandable speech, yet he said:
"You know sign language? You are so lucky."
I asked him, "Why? Why am I lucky?"
He answered, "You get to be deaf."
Not every deaf person is the same. We all have different paths, and that deserves respect. Not every deaf person will choose to use ASL, and that’s perfectly fine. But every deaf child deserves the chance to learn it so they can build strong language skills and make informed choices about how they communicate.
American Sign Language is not "a tool." Nor should it be "optional." American Sign Language is a deaf child’s fundamental right.
