“We wanted workers, but we got people instead.”
Harvard’s top immigration economist George Borjas spent his career on the actual data instead of the theory and found every 10% increase in the immigrant workforce lowers wages for comparable natives by about 3%, with high school dropouts taking an even harder hit.
Open borders quietly moves $516 billion a year from native workers straight into the pockets of the businesses that hire cheaper labor.
The total “gain” to the US economy in 2015 was only $50 billion (0.3% of GDP) because the $566 billion that flowed to employers was almost entirely wiped out by the losses inflicted on native workers.
People arrive with real fiscal and social costs that the open borders models simply never count, and the people selling this deal keep collecting while the workers who compete with the new arrivals foot the bill.
@BasedMikeLee just stood up for all of us!!!
Okay @SenateGOP - time to go on the record. And yes, we WILL use this as the single biggest weight in our calculus of who to fight for an against in your next primary.
LFG!!!
🚨 BREAKING OVERNIGHT: Sen. Mike Lee will OFFICIALLY object to Leader Thune starting August recess until the SAVE America Act is passed
It takes ONE SENATOR to block the automatic recess and ask for the YEAs and NAYs. LFG 🔥
“I hereby object to any effort to put the Senate into recess in August—at least until such time as the Senate has passed the SAVE America Act—and hereby request a roll call vote.
Do not assume you have my consent.
You do not.”
👏🏻👏🏻
Time to FIGHT!
@Diogenesfailed@chill59139129 Get a jar of Buc-ee’s Carolina Reaper salsa (or Creaper as we call it here) and prepare for lift off.
Will change you life.
He was supposed to be getting ready for one of the biggest days of his life.
Instead, 18 year old Timothy Harrison clocked in for his shift at a Waffle House in Center Point, Alabama, on May 27, 2021.
Not because he wanted to miss graduation.
He believed he had no way to get there.
He had missed the rehearsal where students received their cap, gown and tickets because he was working. His mother couldn't get time off from work. He had no ride to the ceremony at the Birmingham CrossPlex. So he quietly accepted that graduation wasn't going to happen and showed up to work instead.
His manager, Cedric Hampton, immediately knew something was wrong.
When Timothy explained the situation, the restaurant became more than a workplace.
One coworker drove to Timothy's school to collect his graduation cap and gown. Another rushed to Target to buy him dress clothes. Four employees each pitched in 40 United States dollars. Customers who heard the story added money too.
Back at the restaurant, Cedric helped button Timothy's new shirt.
A little girl stood on a chair to place his graduation cap on his head.
Another coworker drove him nearly 20 miles to the ceremony, arriving just in time for him to walk across the stage with the Woodlawn High School Class of 2021.
The story didn't end there.
After it spread across the country, Lawson State Community College offered Timothy free tuition and books, giving him the chance to continue his education.
What began as a shift at a Waffle House became the day a group of ordinary people refused to let a young man's future slip away. They didn't just help him attend graduation.
They made sure he never forgot that he was worth showing up for.
Starship soared on the second flight of the next generation, deploying advanced Starlink satellites for the first time and providing priceless data as it travelled through air, space, and sea → https://t.co/Rp7VwBzpWx
🚨I WAS TELLING THE TRUTH🚨
The Chester County, Pennsylvania, non-juror list contains 65 pages of non-citizens
that have been summoned for jury duty.
If this is happening in Chester County, it’s happening everywhere.
Pass the SAVE America Act!
Just got done watching the Starship mission. As an @SpaceX shareholder (one of the retail investors @elonmusk talked about in his @TheEconomist interview) I could not be more proud of this team and the incredible work they do, and to be a part of supporting their work from afar.
I own a whole 7 shares right now and will buy a couple more every couple of weeks. Because the work matters.
And congratulations to the @Starlink team. The v3 satellites are miraculous. Proud to be a 2x customer. You guys are amazing.
Onwards!!!
@Rothmus As @elonmusk had said: there is an entire solar system (and then galactic arm, galaxy, and cosmos) for us to work within. If we don’t destroy ourselves we will NEVER run out of resources.
