“Mentors are great, but women need sponsors. Women need folks fighting for them in rooms that they are not in.” This is just one of many nuggets of wisdom espoused by our President & CEO, Melanie R. Bridgeforth at the @BCAToday Side by Side Women’s Leadership Luncheon!

On this day in 1981, a 19-year-old Black man named Michael Donald was beaten, strangled, slashed at the throat, and hanged in Mobile, Alabama, by two members of United Klans of America. To overcome racial inequality, we must confront our history. https://t.co/d8trUkGGpg
Phase One of the revitalization involves the redesign and repaving of the central plaza, upgrades to the secondary pathways, adding new structural soils and storm drainage, upgrades to and the restoration of the Ketchum Fountain and the planting of trees.
Working with the Downtown Parks Conservancy, we completed a masterplan for the park back in 2019, and because of financial support from the City of Mobile and private partners like Regions Bank, the first phase of that plan is now being implemented.
I want to thank Regions Bank for their contribution and the DPC for their vision to preserve and improve Bienville Square for future generations of Mobilians.
SB 30 just passed in the House by a vote of 86-4 and is now on its way to the governor’s desk. Much appreciation to the Alabama Legislature for securing vital COVID-19 liability protections for entities throughout the state!
Thank you to the members of the Senate Finance & Taxation Education Committee for favorably reporting both HB 192 (reauthorizing economic development incentives) and HB 170 (exempting COVID relief funding from state income taxes) @SenatorGregReed@GoBillPoole@DannyGarrett44
As we embark upon #BlackHistoryMonth, we also take a moment to reflect on our history as an organization and these past 10 years of providing service & success to our young men, their families and our Greater New Orleans community! Check us out.
With support of the legislature, I’m pleased to sign a proclamation that’ll allow Alabamians to avoid paying state taxes on certain benefits received under the federal #CARESAct. It also impacts the AL Jobs Act & Growing Alabama tax credits. #alpolitics
