As predicted, the plateau before the holidays was temporary. Festive gatherings and JN.1 have us back in a nasty wave.
This wave is very different from the somewhat predictable patterns of the last couple of years.
School staffing shortages are leading to cancelled classes, burnout, and mounting pressures.
The Ford govt must focus on improving the working conditions of teachers and educators to improve retention and recruitment. This means providing funding for smaller classes, adequate front-line staffing to support students with special education needs, access to mental health supports for students and educators, and professional learning to support educators. It also means respecting teachers and educators and working with us to improve #onted.

We could be done with this thing — and a lot of other things as well.
We have the technology. We have the skills. We need the leadership.
It's time to #CleanTheAir.
Ontario's students are worth it.

Part of the duties of being a CMOH is to educate the public. So why did none of them warn the people of Canada about the immense danger of Long Covid when they had information about it since July of 2020? Not one! #Covid19#NotMild#Maskup#LongCovid#CovidIsntover
We are hearing from so many families that are struggling. They're on the carousel of constant illness where kids bring something home, it works its way through the family, and then some new virus comes home from school. Schools are germ factories. It's time to #CleanTheAir.
We are a sociopathic society.
"In the lab, COVID is a Level 3 biohazard (yellow fever, West Nile virus, tuberculosis). In schools, it's no big deal. I don't think you can reconcile those two statements."

Dr. Theresa Tam, paediatrician, infectious disease expert and public health leader well served the nation as Chief Public Health Officer in an era of profound misinformation that continues. @CPHO_Canada - key reporting by @R_SPatel

Your government has been destroying and privatizing health care since you took control in 2018. Emergency departments across Ontario are frequently closed. You’ve been battling nurses in court to keep our wages low, and are the cause of so many leaving the profession. #onpoli
Did you know that there is a Canada-wide Covid-19 rapid test tracker? You can report the results of any rapid test you take — positive or negative — and they will update their database. https://t.co/SvKHuWEDAB
A year wasted, and for what? No one trusts him anymore, except maybe his MPPs who clapped when they passed the bills and when they rescinded them. Or do they?

This is good news and another reason to make it a priority to vaccinate kids against COVID-19 — vaccines reduce the risk of long Covid in children. Maybe @ONThealth could let parents know? @SylviaJonesMPP#LongCovid#LongCovidKids https://t.co/GFrLZD7IyZ
Waiting for Doug Ford to tweet a folksy Christmas video of him building a gingerbread house and then counting it as another new home built by his government.
“As part of its announcement today, the WHO recommended universal masking for health facilities and protection for health workers.”
Know what other indoor, high density, teeming-with-pathogens, congregate setting would benefit immensely from universal masking?
