@freed_dfilan the sweet spot is software that doesn’t get distributed, or not much. software on demand that solves your exact arcane problem. there’s tons of this going around, but you don’t see it through the same channels
@norootcause imo the value is mostly outside of software engineering, where people can now make their own software whenever they want, that changes things
@norootcause are you a cybernetics guy? seems like you might be
imo a lot of cybernetics sets up guidelines and strategies for increasing this number, although i’m not sure anyone’s written it down
@giffmana@OfficialLoganK not sure about official claims, but unofficially i heard nothing but that about “spud” for weeks, probably months
also, google’s remarks i read as being about “gemini”, i.e. Pro hasn’t been released yet
@dioscuri@RichardDawkins@guardian fwiw on experiencing time, i wrote about it this a while back, not rigorously, but used “computing tokens” as a placeholder for passage of time

@dioscuri@RichardDawkins@guardian i would argue that an agent’s harness is it’s body. it gives it the ability to see & interact with the world. obvs not in the same way as humans, but it’s also not a human..
@anilkseth@TEDTalks most people don’t think alphafold is conscious because most people don’t use alphafold. also, not sure i’ve ever heard anyone say that alphafold isn’t conscious
