Ranchers need to be arrested if they do this. I’m sorry, I’m usually a decently freedom maximalist but this is actually societally existential. I am not being dramatic. This is life and death. This is how societies collapse their food systems. Texas declared a state of emergency for a reason
genuine question, why does a train line or a new park have to go thru years of votes and environmental impact studies but something like this can just? happen?
A truly intelligent species wouldn’t poison its own drinking water, strip away its topsoil, drive wildlife populations into decline, and create chronic illness through the very food system it depends on.
White phosphorus ignites instantly on contact with oxygen. It burns at over 800°C. It melts through clothing, skin, muscle — and bone.
In the bloodstream, it becomes a systemic poison. It attacks the heart, liver, and kidneys leading to multi‑organ failure and death.
Monsters.
Good reminder that neither RFK nor anyone else in his cohort actually thinks elite higher education is bad. They think you are gullible enough to think they think that, however
one of my homies today asked me to imagine what jameis might say to dart about all this. i said “anything is on the board.”
here’s the board. as you can see, i was correct.
The thing about the “woke pope” stuff is that, in a better world, assuming a cautious stance towards rapid technological change and insisting on the value of the “human” would be the obvious conservative position
Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
Let me trace the timeline here because nobody's connecting it.
Step 1: Scrape the entire internet. Every book, every article, every conversation, every piece of art, every forum post. Do it without asking. Do it without paying.
Step 2: Train a model on all of it. Call it "artificial intelligence."
Step 3: Go to BlackRock's Infrastructure Summit and announce: "We see a future where intelligence is a utility, like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter."
Step 3 is where you sell people's own knowledge back to them. On a meter.
They took the collective output of human thought, compressed it into a model, and now they want to charge you by the token to access a version of what you and everyone you know already created.
One Reddit user put it perfectly: "They stole all this data from us, the people, our life's work, creativity, art, by devouring the internet and blowing through all copyright laws. Now they want to sell it back to us in the form of a utility."
Imagine if someone photocopied every book in the public library, burned the library down, and then opened a subscription service for the copies.
That's the metered intelligence business model.
And they're pitching it to infrastructure investors as though they invented water.
I posted these last year and had a thousand chuds in the comments calling me slurs and saying that they would never touch national parks. I’d like to take this moment to say: fuck you.
