@chris_uk2026@WhatsApp@BBCNews Good shout, Chris. A reverse image search on a profile photo catches a lot of fake accounts and romance scammers. Cheers for adding it.
A passkey replaces your password. You unlock it with your face or fingerprint, so there's nothing for a scammer to steal. If a site offers them, switch them on. Using passkeys yet, or still on passwords? #Passkeys
@InformeOculto Spot on. If a stranger asks you to add them on WhatsApp, don't reply. Block the number and report it to @WhatsApp so it gets flagged, then tell family in case they get one too.
Criminals spend hours researching you and will use any information they find in their scams.

@TakeFive Typing the web address yourself beats clicking a link in a text every time. If a message is pushing you to hurry, that's your cue to stop and check it another way.
Tax refund text from HMRC? It's a scam. HMRC never texts to give refunds, and a link to claim money is a red flag. Don't tap it. Forward it to 7726 (free), then delete it. Had one this week? Tell me below. #HMRCScam
Not sure if a message is a scam? I made a free checklist to check any text, email or call in under a minute. Plain English, no jargon. https://t.co/Sw8nVA6jDd What's the trickiest one you've had? #ScamAwareness
Proud to be writing for @civvymagazine, the magazine for those who have served. I'll be sharing plain-English scam advice for service leavers and veterans there. https://t.co/UjZ2Q4Ghhb #CIVVY#Veterans
@CivvyMagazine Thank you for featuring me in Issue #2. Scammers love the busy, uncertain weeks after leaving service, so I was glad to share some practical tips for veterans.
Got a text asking for £1.99 to release your parcel? It's a scam. Couriers never charge by text. The tiny fee is bait for your card details. Don't tap the link. Use the courier's own app. Ever had one? Share this with someone who'd fall for it. #ParcelScam
@HMRCcustomers Good reminder. Simple rule for anyone unsure: if a text or email about a refund or tax has a link, don't tap it. Go to https://t.co/trvI1ZRXEg and log in yourself. Suspicious texts can be forwarded to 7726 for free.
Your bank will never ask you to move your money.
Hang up and ring the number on your card, or dial 159 to reach your bank. Never share a PIN or one-time code. A real bank never rushes you.

Hello all. New here. I run Kells Security Solutions and help small businesses avoid scams. One quick tip. If a supplier emails to say their bank details have changed, ring them on a number you already have before you pay. It takes two minutes and can save thousands.

Hello all. New to the group. I'm an ex-infantry soldier who was caught out by an online scam in 2024, and I now teach families and small businesses how to spot them. Fake invoice emails are the one I keep seeing. What are you all seeing most at the moment?
