As a GA voter, my biggest takeaway from today's runoff is:
If overseas ballots can use #RankedChoiceVoting to shorten runoff time, every single voter should be able to use RCV so we stop wasting time and money on runoffs.

In 7th grade I spent hours waiting to find out that my friends were unharmed after a shooting at a nearby school.
I can't imagine how terrifying it is to be a student now.
I can't imagine how terrifying it is to send a child to school now.

A committee member asked a question about pattern triggered immunity against root knot nematodes at my proposal presentation. I didn't have an answer. Since I can't let questions go unanswered, here's the review I co-wrote to answer it: https://t.co/IYqlI4moQd
My Grandpa was very scared of flying. When I learned this, I reminded him that he spent his entire career in the Air Force.
His response: I was afraid back then, too.
He was an electrician, not a pilot, so I guess the flying was minimal.
He never did tell me why he picked USAF.
Plant scientists are working diligently to increase the global food supply, but we're fighting climate change, a culture of food waste, and a lack of awareness of the problem.
In undergrad genetics, we were talking about how much longer ppl can live with new biomed tech. As the only plant person, I broke the news that we can't feed everyone that's currently alive & people can't live longer w/o food & I think that says a lot about science priorities.
My husband had tickets to the @Nationals 2020 opener, which didn't happen. We had tickets to finally see his long-time fave team & player @treavturner next weekend in ATL and of course they just traded away the whole team.
