How many of us are listening to the same hold music right now while we all inundate IT with calls for help? Shout out to the IT people today because I just know this is gonna be rough for you 🥲
One former student told me today that she missed me and my class and thought of me when she was stressing earlier.
30 seconds later another student (never taught) told me that when he gets his license next month, he’s going to drive into my living room.
🥲🥲🥲
@ColeDavis84 I think this will be the way! I’m gonna make a review game of the unit we worked on before break and they can have an option to play the review game as a group, or have some time to themselves to talk or go to another room if needed. Thank you Cole!❤️
The middle school principal passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Day. Trying to shift my initial plans for returning to school tomorrow since my 9th graders all knew him well and spent 4 years with him as admin. Trying to balance space for grieving with something to distract?
@HollyStallcup Aura Frames are great, and there’s probably a code you can use for a discount right now (maybe try OLOGIES since that podcast is often sponsored by Aura)
It’s my first out of two paid IEP writing days and I just have to say I love this process lol. I love collecting data and putting the pieces together to see what each student needs to support them. It’s like a constantly evolving puzzle and my nerdy heart is content😌
I am losing my marbles over my general education colleagues who find it SO INCONVENIENT to help assess the progress of students with IEPs. They are YOUR students too!!! Omg.
I think 4 different students of mine got their licenses in the last month… we’re currently experiencing the first snowfall to stick to the road this evening…I hope they are all staying in tonight 😩
A student, talking to me about a serial killer they were discussing in her class:
Look at that face, Ms. Long!! Why would people go with him?? Ms. Long….. smash or pass?
I can’t 🥲🥲🥲
Why is the text on all video games/streaming platforms so small?! Accessibility settings should allow you to increase font size so you can read the show summary, episode name, any info on a platform! The text is too small, people!!
Today was a much better day although I still don’t feel like I’m having any meaningful impact on a few students. I can’t seem to convince them through words or actions so far that I am on their side
One more day til break. I need a chance to breathe and figure out how to approach these situations in the future. I hate that there are students who feel they aren’t being helped at all. But nothing I do seems to make an impact
Things students have said to me this year:
“Teachers shouldn’t have rights” after the student stated that teachers acted like gods and I asked what we could do differently to make the classroom feel more welcome
“You’re not even trying to help me.” After working through a global study guide with them and trying to help them learn how to navigate a textbook for specific information
