Hello everyone, I am Haihong Miao. You can call me Kelly. Can’t wait to “meet” and share ideas with you in such a new and special way! Stay heathy and safe!
@MsElliott11@ctl1215 @eric00337327 @SamShar51775262@TseHillary @teachertalksTO @DrAllisonR I totally agree with you. I have just selected summer courses and one course includes visiting the AGO. We have to self isolate at home and I think it is time to make these activities online in another form.
@ctl1215 @eric00337327 @SamShar51775262@TseHillary @teachertalksTO For one thing, I can not browse all the exhibits when I “enter” the museum. Instead, I can only see them one by one, which is time consuming and monotonous. For another, I like the feeling of immersion, but such virtual museum failed to bring me back to different dynasties.
@ctl1215 @eric00337327 @SamShar51775262@TseHillary @teachertalksTO Article 3 (2): I have visited a virtual museum in China, that is National Museum of China. However, it was not as interesting and vivid as I thought.
@ctl1215 @DrAllisonR Q#6: As to those students in remote areas or poor villages, they do not have access to the internet and computers. The only way for them to acquire knowledge is to take class at school. Such virtual platforms are exclusive to them.
@ctl1215 @DrAllisonR However, I do not think that I learn a lot from that technology engagement, because we all view as the way of homework not then real knowledge sharing platform. Therefore, in order to realize the value of technology, teachers should also get engaged and scaffold if necessary.
@ctl1215 Second, they can take advantage of some technology such as blog, app and online platform. With the help of these tools, teachers can monitor students’ learning process and mediate them if necessary while empowering those students.
@ctl1215 A3: First, teachers and students should change their deep-rooted understanding of their roles. Teachers are no longer the knowledge transmitter. Instead, learning and teaching are transaction which requires cooperation of them. Students are also not passive knowledge receivers.
@ctl1215 A5: I think decolonizing science should be given priority. If when put more efforts on class size, equitable source and other issues, the public will still advocate the transition from colonization to decolonization. During transition, those issues will recur.
