The feeling of being undervalued was so violent it took my breath away. Not for ONE SECOND did I cross his mind. The existence of his own wife was completely erased at that event. He preferred the smile and gratitude of a coworker over mine. He preferred the social applause of being the "nice guy." When I confronted him, the worst part came. He called me dramatic and crazy. He said it "would look bad" for a man to accept makeup in front of everyone and that he couldn't refuse the moment.
