Them: The best way to manage diabetes is to restrict certain foods! This will give you perfect blood sugars.
Me: There is no reason to restrict to manage diabetes. You’re better off learning how to eat all the foods you want and love. Restriction always backfires.
Yes- eating your meals with protein and fiber rich carbohydrates can help manage blood sugars.
But once these guidelines become “food rules,” healthy choices become disordered eating.
Remember, the goal is not perfection.
