I understand how you feel. But laws are laws. The regulations already prescribed specific figures per infraction. You cannot charge outside of the regulations, otherwise you can be sued.

I totally agree that it should be more. I have publicly spoken about this and I have urged the regulations committee to review that part of the regulations. They will, hopefully.

But, our sanctions have been effective. Way more effective than you imagine. Airlines are more responsive and compliant than ever before. We have recorded the highest volume of refunds, compensations, and hotel accommodation in the history of the industry.

International airlines are more respectful of our passengers. There is push back from SOME domestic operators, but nothing we can't handle.

Before we came on board, no airline had ever been sanctioned for consumer protection-related infractions. Between last year and this Saudi case, we have sanctioned NINE airlines. There is some reputational damage that comes with sanctions. You may not see it, but they feel it. It is beyond money.

I would prefer it if, while criticising constructively, we also acknowledge the vast improvements and achievements. I apologise, again, about how you feel. We will keep trying to do better.

In the spirit of talking about Ycee. Many years ago, I picked him up while I was doing Uber in Lagos.

I dropped someone off at Kohinoor in Lekki, and before I would even end the ride, I got another request. It was Ycee, I didn’t know.

I saw him walking out of Kohinoor and I was sure he was the one. He greeted me well, even sat in the front with me, which wasn’t popular then, people loved to sit at the back.

I asked to start the ride and he replied with “yes boss”. I started the ride and before I moved, I typed his name on my Apple Music and started playing his songs. He also had a latest song then.
