@drrobinbright @ULethbridgeEdu @Stavely_LRSD @LRSD_68@PembrokePublish Is there a specific literacy assessment you like? I like hearing what other schools, professionals, and literacy teachers prefer!
We just finished a book club and one group read The Grace Year by Kim Liggett. Some students created mood boards and I have been SO impressed. This is just one of the amazing examples that they are working on. They nailed the mood and aesthetic of it!
@AuthorLisaFipps Starfish is spreading through our middle school like wildfire and I could not be happier about it. I sobbed through most of it, healing little me's heart in tiny ways, and I'm sure your words are speaking to them the say way!
Independent reading is not about a level; it’s not about a certain number of minutes. Independent reading is that reading we do that helps us develop independent thoughts - not thoughts directed by anyone else.
@mrbgilson That's why I've never understood the argument of, "It's never going to resonate with them, so we're not going to read it/ talk about it..." OR "They just don't care, so..." Does it matter that it's not their lived experience? Those voices still deserve to be heard.
The more I think of this comment, the more is disturbs me. That our elected MLA’s would think so poorly of public education in this province. Alberta has one of the best systems in the world, we need to protect and enhance it, not tear it apart.
Working on organizing a great Literacy PD event for teachers in Alberta. Alberta teachers we would love for you to share what you are doing in your classroom. @ElacSouth@ELACedmonton@ABELATeachers@CentralElac Please spread the word.
Writing Question:
If I'm writing a dialogue between myself and another person, and I am the narrator of the story, and I want to insert thoughts as the narrator within a paragraph of their speech, how would I do this? It's almost as an aside to the audience after each sentence.
