My sweet leftist babies, pitting the people who make $30k a year against the people who make $60k a year is what the people who make $600k a WEEK want.
@Autumn10434 @Hooserdaddy3@Kdubtru I have friends who know him personally, and his girlfriend is my former college residence director — they are both excellent people doing excellent work that impacts the world far more positively than speculating about others’ sexuality ever will.
This thread feels super gross.
@albertmohler As a Canadian, it can be frustrating when public figures invoke our news/events when they feel it mirrors something in the US, but do not continue to engage with it to provide necessary context and follow-up for their audience. 2/2
@albertmohler Curious to know if you followed this situation after you wrote about it several times last year. The report from the Public Order Emergency Commission came out a couple of months ago concluding the threshold for invoking the Emergencies Act was indeed met. 1/2
@ValerieLSwope You cannot acknowledge having had a sexual relationship with a minor, let alone from a position of authority, and maintain that there was EVER consent.
Children. Cannot. Give. Consent.
Children. Are. Not. Responsible.
PERIOD.
I’m so so so sorry, Valerie.
@bethallisonbarr In perpetrating & remaining complicit in forms of domination such as colonialism & racism, the Queen necessarily strengthened & legitimized other forms of oppression with which they interlock, including sexism. These hierarchies sustain each other — the Queen sustained them all.
@bethallisonbarr …as a citizen of so-called Canada & ally w/ Indigenous peoples, I’m reminded that her legacy is one of colonialism & violence — legitimized & maintained by Western acceptance of Christian dominion and our unwillingness to confront our belief in benevolent Whiteness.
Something surprising I’ve learned in the past week:
Many pro-choicers tell me that life beginning at conception has *no* impact on their view. For them, it’s a matter of who is best fit to make decisions in the pregnancy. And it’s always the mother, never the government.
🧵I have a great deal of respect for @AllysonJule, especially her personal commitment to inclusion & diversity. I have worked closely with her in her capacity of chair of the Deans of education. #bced#bcpoli https://t.co/vQAU32wmIQ
Beautiful to see a community trust the reps it has chosen not only to reflect explicit consultation that’s already occurred, but to speak & act in their stead moment-to-moment—it’s an implicit & faithful trust, borne of mutual listening & knowing.
That’s hopeful shit.

Came across a letter this AM that I could send to my City Councillor re: mass evictions/displacements. Was going to sign to send to my rep, @cmckenney, and then it occurred to me I didn’t have to.

Beyond the signing of public letters and email template campaigns (valid and important actions!), my neighbours make consistent efforts to ensure our representatives know not only our present needs and concerns, but our values and our dreams. /6
