Currently contemplating why a school board & a teachers’ union would be against adopting a student outcomes-focused governance model.
Further contemplating why they didn’t already have one.
Accountability for what our kids know and are able to do matters. Our kids deserve it.
Hello sir. I co-manage a weekly food pantry in St. Paul, Minnesota. You're welcome to volunteer at our site to serve the 70 families (and rising) who visit us a week. Thanks!
Minnesota Republican state Sen. Steve Drazkowski on bill providing free school breakfast and lunch: "I have yet to meet a person in Minnesota that is hungry. Yet today. I have yet to meet a person in Minnesota that says they don't have access to enough food to eat." #mnleg
@2harvest ...Seniors are the fastest growing group of food pantry visitors. We see all of these things in our mutual aid community, weekly. Sen. Drazkowski needs to get out more. Meet some people. Mingle with the masses. Help his fellow Minnesotans.
Great news! As an employee in a public elementary school that receives money for children who qualify for free and reduced lunch, will there still be accounting for the compensatory funds schools currently receive?
Today, I signed a bill into law providing free school breakfast and lunch for Minnesota students.
It’s a historic, bipartisan win that means no kid will go hungry at school – and that Minnesota is one step closer to being the best state in the county to grow up.
Midway Project distribution for Weds, Feb 22nd is cancelled due to the weather. We are back on March 1st at Hancock Rec from 12:00-2:00pm @HamlineMidway@SaintPaulParks
Out in my neighborhood w/ a friend this morning & had that awesome experience of joining w/ other neighbors to help folks get unstuck. Special shout out to everyone helping their neighbors today including Bob & the Hamline Women's hockey team who were helping in the Midway. ❄️♥️
We are so excited about our 1st Discovery Expo! This is an inquiry-based event designed to give our K-5 scholars an opportunity to explore fields of study with @HamlineU students & faculty. Thanks to our School Counselor, Miss Annette for organizing! @SppsCounselors@SPPS_News
Hey #mnleg, on the eve of duel strikes in two of our biggest districts, I’d rather see posts on bills you are writing and fighting for to support schools rather than photo ops. Actions speak louder than pics.
Districts can’t do it alone. We need decisive action this session.
Ugh. I knew I should not have dipped back into my Minnesota Twitter. People. There’s never only one side to a story, no matter how much you like your side.
These points are so important: our school boards can’t fully fund our public schools; our district central administrations can’t fully fund our public schools. Only the #mnleg can do that. Our families & organizations need to use their microphones to demand #fullyfundedschools.
I hope #mnleg is working hard to determine how to use the state surplus as a bridge to financial stability for districts. Despite some mnleg talking points it’s unwise to use fed ESSER funds to settle contracts. That money goes away. Commitments in contracts do not. #BudgetSeason
