The S.C. House voted to require Ten Commandments posters in public school and college classrooms after a heated debate. Meanwhile, college athletic directors denied using state dollars for athlete revenue-sharing as senators weigh an NIL secrecy bill.

@VivintHome your customer service sucks 100%. As a customer for over 5 years, spending hours on the phone to query and clarify a bill being passed around from call to call is absurd. Can’t even get cancel my services. Next step to tell my bank to block all transactions. 🫤
American independent journalist and storm chaser Jonathan Petramala, known for documenting some of the most extreme weather events on the planet, shared a touching story while reporting from Jamaica.
Petramala mentioned he’d been trying to find a rain jacket since arriving in Jamaica after forgetting his poncho at home. While out filming, he complimented a stranger on her jacket, and to his surprise, that’s when the Jamaican woman — wearing a JFF national football team jacket — offered him hers.
“She just gave me this jacket off her back,” he said.
“But I just wanted to share that story because I want you to keep that in mind. When you see the impacts of Hurricane Melissa and realize people like this are the ones that are being impacted — not just today, not just tomorrow, but days and weeks and months ahead. These are the people in the path of Hurricane Melissa.”

A stationary front nearby and incoming low-pressure systems will increase the chance for rounds of showers and storms. South Carolina has a wetter-than-normal outlook, but not for all simultaneously.

TABLE ROCK FIRE UPDATE – PICKENS COUNTY SC – 18:00:00 –MARCH 22, 2025
The Table Rock Fire, which ignited Friday, is estimated at 35-plus acres and continues to grow. While more than 30 personnel from the South Carolina Forestry Commission, The Nature Conservancy, Greenville Water, the USDA Forest Service and local fire departments are working to contain the fire, the steep, mountainous terrain is making it difficult for firefighters to access the active fire and establish more effective firebreaks.
Several spot fires – when embers land on the unburned side of a fireline – have led to new ignitions outside of the original fire area. Exacerbating the situation is an abundance of downed timber from Hurricane Helene, which has increased the fuel load on the mountain. Fire weather conditions have continued to deteriorate today, with wind gusts increasing, and relative humidity dropping below 20%.
Four aircraft have been providing aviation support all day, including one SCFC airplane surveying the fire, two SCFC single-engine air tankers dropping water and one SLED helicopter using a Bambi bucket to drop water. Officials are hoping to add more air resources tomorrow as the situation evolves.
REMINDER: A statewide burning ban issued yesterday at 6 p.m. remains in effect until further notice. A State Forester’s Burning Ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including yard debris burning, prescribed burning, campfires, bonfires and other recreational fires in all unincorporated areas of the state.
FIRE BACKGROUND: Human-caused / March 21, 2025 / Table Rock State Park, 13 miles north of downtown Pickens, SC
FIRE SIZE: 35+ acres, as of March 22, 2025
CONTAINMENT: 0%
EVACUATIONS: Out of an abundance of caution, local fire officials are calling for voluntary evacuations of residents who live on eight roads in close proximity to Table Rock Mountain. Those roads are:
-Country Creek Drive
-Weaver Creek Trail
-Katijah Lane
-Lynne Way
-Dry Lake Road
-Curtis Way
-Shepherd Springs Drive
-Gnome Hill Lane
Officials are going door-to-door to make residents aware of the call for voluntary evacuations and also working to establish a nearby evacuation center yet to be determined. Residents on these roads are not in immediate danger, but are being notified of the possibility of the eventual spread of the Table Rock Fire to their vicinity.
ESTIMATED COSTS TO DATE: N/A
FIRE CREWS/RESOURCES: More than 30 personnel from the South Carolina Forestry Commission, The Nature Conservancy, Greenville Water, the USDA Forest Service and local fire departments. Four aircraft, including one SCFC aerial observer, two SCFC single engine air tankers and one SLED helicopter.
INJURIES: No injuries have been reported.
STRUCTURES: No structures are threatened at this time.
CLOSURES: Table Rock State Park trails are closed until further notice.

***UPDATE: TEMPORARY FLIGHT RESTRICTION EXTENDED TO 7-MILE RADIUS OF TABLE ROCK FIRE
A TFR is in effect for the 7-mile radius surrounding the fire at Table Rock State Park due to aircraft assistance with the fire. Air space over the fire is CLOSED.
🚨 REMINDER: Flying drones or unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) near a wildfire is ILLEGAL.
Aircraft responding to wildfires fly low, and drones in the area can pose a serious threat to the pilot’s safety. A drone causing air operations to shut down also puts firefighters, residents and property at risk.
