For a long time, residents of Ndunduni in Kangundo North Ward had to travel long distances to access maternal healthcare services. They can access safe, quality maternity care closer to home at Ndunduni Dispensary.

This milestone will ease the burden on residents, promote safe deliveries, improve maternal and newborn health outcomes, and ensure mothers receive timely, dignified, and quality care.

Welcome home, Governor Irungu Kang'ata, where you belong.

Today at Wamunyoro Residence, I was pleased to receive my younger brother, Governor Irungu Kang'ata, Governor of Murang'a County, as a member of our party, DCP, the party of the moment and the future.

Since its inception, the DCP Party has grown into a strong national party with millions of followers and thousands of prospective aspirants ahead of the 10th August 2027 polls.

We now have a Member of the National Assembly and three Members of the County Assemblies from across the Country, reflecting the face of Kenya. As we prepare for the next General Election, we are determined to be the majority party in both Houses and the majority across County Assemblies.

Commissioned the Kivaani Health Centre Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Ultrasound Block in Kangundo East Ward, a transformative investment that will improve access to quality maternal and child healthcare for over 9,000 residents.

The new facility will enhance safe deliveries, provide essential ultrasound services closer to the community, improve health outcomes for mothers and children, and offer a better working environment for healthcare workers.

My administration remains committed to strengthening healthcare across Machakos by investing in modern health infrastructure, equipping our facilities, ensuring a steady supply of essential medicines, and supporting our healthcare workforce to deliver quality, affordable and accessible services to every resident.1

Concluded my development tour in Kangundo North Ward with a public engagement forum at Ndunduni, where I interacted with residents, listened to their views and priorities, and updated them on the development projects we are implementing across the ward.

Today I joined family, friends, and the Mumoni community in Mwingi North, Kitui County, to lay to rest Pastor William Muthengi.

He answered the call to ministry in 1968, starting out at AIC Musosya. Over the years he served at Nguuku, Kamuwongo, Katse, Nzewani, and finally Kandwia AIC. In each place he left people better than he found them.

He was also a farmer. He mentored young people. He gave counsel to anyone who asked for it, and he never made a show of it.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." — 2 Timothy 4:7

Fare thee well, Mzee Muthengi. May the Lord comfort his family, and all of Mumoni who mourn him today.

To continue boosting aquaculture in Machakos County, we have stocked Kwa Nduu Dam in Kavilinguni Sub-location with 10,000 fish fingerlings, adding to the ones we had previously stocked, which are already supporting fishing activities and fish farming by residents.

Fish farming is emerging as a sustainable alternative for enhancing food security in Machakos County by increasing local food production, improving household nutrition, and diversifying livelihoods. Through this initiative, we are expanding fish production while creating additional income opportunities for families through fish sales.

This investment advances my vision of Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni by promoting sustainable agriculture, strengthening household resilience and improving the livelihoods of our people.

The rehabilitated Kamanzi ABC Borehole in Iia-Itune Sub-Location, Kangundo East Ward, is restoring reliable access to clean water for local residents.

The project includes the rehabilitation of the borehole and the extension of a water reticulation system to 10 water distribution points, Kamanzi Primary School, Kamanzi Secondary School, and surrounding churches. Serving more than 1,400 households across Kamanzi, Sisyani, and Iia-Itune villages.

The project will improve public health and sanitation, support learning in schools, reduce the burden of fetching water, and provide families with a reliable supply of clean and safe water for their daily needs.

Held a public engagement meeting with residents of Kangundo East Ward at Kivaani, where we had an open and productive discussion on the development priorities of the ward and the progress of projects my administration is implementing.

The views and ideas shared during the meeting will continue to guide our development agenda as we work together to deliver projects that respond to the needs and aspirations of the people.
