@acbatesy @scott_tobias @LaneBrown Some theaters adjusted the curtains from just the top and others from both sides, customized to how the aperture plate was cut and the film framed (which you could adjust). Digital makes all of that much more challenging. That’s what I read, at least.

@acbatesy @scott_tobias @LaneBrown I went down this rabbit hole a while back and it seems like the digital projection is actually what largely contributed to the end of proper masking. Think about how we used to switch out aperture plates. I don’t think there’s a digital equivalent.
