Here's another glimpse of last year's #100DaysofAction. At Turunga Institute in the DRC, more than 600 students and 16 teachers came together to discuss how child marriage affects education, health, safety, and well-being, and to commit to building a safer future for every child.

Thank you @katyayani13 for articulating this with rare clarity, forcing us to ask where the responsibility for prevention truly belongs. No child can ever be responsible for an adult’s violence or be made to carry its shame. The shame must switch sides.
True justice does not lie in giving girls a handbook for escaping violence. It lies in preventing the crime in the first place. https://t.co/uKYBHuurqH
I congratulate Governor @GavinNewsom and #California for setting 18 as the minimum age of marriage, without exceptions. Every #US state that has yet to ban #childmarriage must do so with urgency.
Child marriage is child rape. Just last month, the world came together at the @UN in #NewYork to establish #27November as the International Day for the Elimination of Child, Early and Forced Marriage. In the world’s largest economy, the #ruleoflaw cannot allow a child’s protection to depend on where they live. Every child must have equal protection under law. https://t.co/roZCZtAil6
In a case brought by Just Rights for Children Alliance before the #SupremeCourt, the question of children independently contracting with social media platforms has moved swiftly towards legal action.
The Supreme Court has now asked the Centre to examine a statutory framework requiring platforms to comply with Indian law governing minors. The Centre told the Court: “Something can be done, something should be done and will be done.”
At Responsible AI & Safe Digital Spaces for Children, an affiliate event of Digital@UNGA on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, our Founder, @Bhuwan_Ribhu launched “Prevention by Design: From Voluntary Self-Regulation to a State Duty of Care,” a new report by JRC partner Centre for Legal Action and Behaviour Change (C-LAB) @CLABForChildren .

Honoured to be part of the launch of the Centre for Legal Action and Behaviour Change’s groundbreaking report, “Prevention by Design”, at the Responsible AI & Safe Digital Spaces for Children event on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
On the same day that the Supreme Court called for guidelines on social media companies reporting #CSEAM to Indian law enforcement authorities, this report sets out a policy framework for placing prevention at the centre of digital child safety.
#PreventionByDesign must become the foundation of how we build, regulate and govern the digital world our children inhabit. #UNGA81
Thank you @ians_india for highlighting this important development.
Direct local reporting to Indian law enforcement must now become the standard for every platform operating in India, and a model for stronger child-safety accountability to be emulated across jurisdictions.

Delhi: Bhuwan Ribhu, Founder of Just Rights for Children, says, "Today, the Supreme Court of India has directed its old Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitative Material Direction, further strengthening the safety of children, to the government, to frame this guideline within two weeks, that not only all social media companies in India will report this kind of material, but will make such a framework, We will make sure that there is no such platform and that children can be saved before that. So today, the court focused on saving and directed the government to make a framework of this in two weeks and submit it to the court. The court focused on how to save children from such harmful substances and how to report this to the police and the government in India...."
Humbled to appear before the Hon’ble #SupremeCourt in the Just Rights for Children case that calls for accountability of social media intermediaries to report #CSEAM to law enforcement authorities in India. I thank the Hon’ble Bench comprising Justice J.B. Pardiwala and Justice K. Vinod Chandran for underscoring the need for #PreventionbyDesign and calling upon the Government to ensure effective implementation, accountability and swift action to protect children from online exploitation.
Thank you, Hindustan Times @htTweets , for carrying the thoughts of our Founder, Bhuwan Ribhu @Bhuwan_Ribhu , on why #27November, the International Day for the Elimination of Child, Early and Forced Marriage, must become a global catalyst for accountability, acceleration and action towards a #ChildMarriageFreeWorld by 2030.
