SB49, also referred to as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill is a harmful piece of legislation that targets queer and trans youth.
If SB 49 becomes a law in NC, trans and queer students will be subjected to forced outing and will be pushed to invisibility in their school curriculum.
The truth is, SB49 is North Carolina’s version of Florida’s HB1577 “Don’t Say Gay'' bill that has now been signed into law.
This anti-LGBTQ+ legislation will promote an unsafe environment for students to express their gender identities through targeted exclusion.
Senate Republicans filed a new version of the Parents’ Bill of Rights from last year, which includes regulating curriculum about LGBTQ issues. https://t.co/sVkl3d0MXI
