The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has taken note of the multiple tags and public concerns regarding a video currently circulating on social media, in which a young woman shared her experience of sexual assault at her residence on her TikTok page.

We want to state clearly that we have seen the reports and we are actively making efforts to reach the survivor to offer immediate support and appropriate intervention and ascertain the location. Our team has initiated contact through available channels and will continue efforts to establish communication.

If anyone has credible information that can assist us in reaching her directly and safely, please contact the Agency by sending us a DM on any of our official social media channels.

The Lagos State Government maintains a zero tolerance stance against all forms of Domestic and Sexual Violence. Sexual Assault is a crime, and every survivor deserves protection, care, support and justice.

We encourage survivors to speak up and assure the public that reports are treated with utmost confidentiality and urgency.

When i see tweets like this, i always laugh because a whole lot of you are very ignorant about how the system works.

Let me school you on the reality of that "14-Day of no men" fantasy.

You think if men disappeared for two weeks, you’d finally 'breathe'?Lol. You are imagining a world where everything still works, lights, water, internet, just without the men. But you're forgetting that these things are controlled, managed, and built by mostly men.

Now allow me school you on what would happen if men disappeared for 2 weeks.

Day 1-3: The Supply Chain Snaps
Do you know that over 90% of truck drivers and logistics crews are men?
Cities only hold about 3 days' worth of fresh food.
The moment the 18-wheelers stop moving, panic buying starts and before 3 days, existing stocks are cleared and by Day 3, you aren't 'walking peacefully at 3 AM' because you'll be too busy guarding your pantry because there is no food coming to restock the store.

Day 4-7: The "Scent" of Sisterhood
Do you know who manages the sewage treatment plants and garbage dumps?
Without active crews to clear blockages and manage waste pressure, the systems back up.
Trash piles up on the streets. Toilets stop flushing. The 'fresh air' you wanted to breathe now smells like shit and rotting garbage. Hygiene diseases begin to spread.

Day 8-10: The Lights (and The Internet) Die
The Power Grid does not work on girl power. it requires constant, active load balancing by engineers in control rooms.
When those men vanish, safety systems trip. Blackout.
No AC. No refrigeration for your spoiling food. No internet to tweet about your freedom.

The question you asked was exactly what I asked myself when I first entered the University of Ilorin campus as a 100-level student. I looked at the road stretching from the school gate to the academic area, twisting and turning, and I wondered: "Why stress us?

Why didn't they just pave a straight line that would link us directly to the Faculty of Education?" Several people gave me funny responses. In fact, some even said it was for aesthetics, others said it was to prevent overspeeding.

It wasn't until I got to 300-level and was introduced to Engineering Survey that I got the answer. It's a technique called Gradient Management.

If you build a road straight up a steep hill like that, the slope becomes too sharp. A car engine has limits. If the road is too steep, vehicles will struggle to climb, and heavy trucks will roll back. Coming down is even more dangerous because gravity will pull you down so fast that your brakes might fail.

To fix this, we intentionally make the road longer and windy to reduce the steepness. Think of it this way: It is easier to walk up a gentle ramp that wraps around a building than to climb a straight ladder. Winding the road spreads the height over a longer distance, making the climb gradual and safe for engines.

Also, a straight line through a mountain means you have to blast through solid rock or fill up deep valleys, which costs billions. And as you know, following the natural contours of the land is not only safer; it is way cheaper.

So in short, we are just using Geometry to defeat Gravity. You get?
