🌳 Protecting the Taj Mahal 🕌⛔️

The Supreme Court, led by Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Sudhanshu Dhulia, has taken a stand to safeguard the environment around the iconic Taj Mahal. The Court rejected a proposal from the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) to cut 4087 trees in the Taj Trapezium Zone (TTZ) for the construction of an integrated manufacturing cluster (IMC) in Agra.

The proposed IMC project aims to create a special purpose vehicle involving UPSIDA and the Central government, promising to generate approximately 70,000 job opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled labor in the region. However, the Court expressed concern over the significant tree loss and the potential negative impact on the environment.

Agra's charm lies not in industries but in its lush greenery. The Court has mandated that cutting trees in the TTZ requires its explicit permission.
