Laid the foundation stone for the 580-bed Eldas Teachers Training College student hostels, Eldas Constituency, Wajir County.
Also commissioned the KSh460 million Eldas Water Supply Project and committed an additional KSh900 million to further enhance water access for residents.
Later addressed residents of Eldas town and urged parents across Northern Kenya to take full advantage of the Government's investment in education by ensuring their children attend school.
@WilliamsRuto H.E @WilliamsRuto the Greatest of All Time. He is highly sophisticated political genius with stellar work ethic and intellect, for these third rate, confused and washed up politicians in the so called opposition. Put some respect on the president’s name. #KumiBilaBreak.
WAJIR TOWN, KENYA
MONDAY, JUNE 1, 2026
The Kenya Kwanza Administration’s agenda of inclusivity and equality is well and truly underway as the Country marks the 63rd Madaraka Day in Wajir County.
Over the last 63 years, we have made significant progress as a nation and implemented transformative development initiatives that have strengthened unity and advanced progress across Kenya.
By abolishing the discriminatory vetting procedures that residents of North Eastern Region and other border Counties were subjected to, hindering their acquisition of national identity cards, passports and other vital citizenship documents, the government under the stewardship of President William Ruto is correcting and resolving historical grievances, marginalization and discrimination in pursuit of a united, cohesive and prosperous Kenya.
Never again will citizens of our republic be subjected to discrimination based on religion, ethnicity, or place of origin.
To ensure the dignity of all Kenyans and access to opportunities, the Government is equitably implementing development projects across the country.
The 750km 100 billion shillings Mandera-Rhamu-Gare-Elwak-Kobo-Kotulo-Tarbaj-Wajir-Samatar-Habaswein-Modogashe-Kula Mawe-Isiolo Road whose construction is at an advanced stage is a critical infrastructure project that will greatly enhance connectivity and economic opportunities in the Northern Kenya Region.
Joined President Ruto at the newly constructed Wajir Stadium as he led the nation in marking the 63rd Madaraka Day, the first time such national celebrations were hosted in North Eastern Region.
Joined H.E. President William Ruto, fellow leaders and wananchi in Wajir County to mark the 63rd Madaraka Day celebrations. It is historic that, for the first time, the national celebration is being held in the North Eastern region of Kenya, a powerful affirmation that every part of our country matters and has a role to play in our shared future.
@WilliamsRuto What a great leader. I am lost for words. Thank you Sir. What an incredible human being, and an incredible moment. The greatest President, the Republic of Kenya ever had. History will be kind to you Mr President. H.E @WilliamsRuto
The historic Madaraka Day celebration in Wajir County is, without question, the most consequential of my lifetime and political career. Today, we are confronting and correcting a historical injustice that has endured for more than six decades.
For far too long, the people of Northern Kenya bore the burden of State-sanctioned neglect following the policy direction set out in Sessional Paper No. 10 of 1965.
The result was decades of marginalisation, under-investment, and missed opportunities for generations of Kenyans in this region.
On behalf of the Government and the Republic of Kenya, I extend my sincere apology to the people of Northern Kenya for the hardships and exclusion you have endured over the years.
Your resilience in the face of these challenges is a testament to the strength and patriotism of this region.
Today, however, we are charting a different course. Our administration is making significant progress in restoring equity, expanding opportunity, and ensuring that Northern Kenya takes its rightful place in our nation's transformation journey.
We are ending decades of marginalisation by implementing development projects fairly across Kenya. Our goal is to build a nation that every Kenyan is proud to call home.
We have abolished the discriminatory extra vetting process that for many years denied residents of Northern Kenya access to National Identity Cards, effectively locking them out of Government services and opportunities.
To strengthen education in the region, we introduced an affirmative action programme to recruit 100 teachers in every constituency across Northern Kenya. This will increase the number of local teachers and ensure uninterrupted learning.
Inspected ongoing tarmacking of roads within Griftu town, Wajir West Constituency, which we are upgrading at a cost of KSh1 billiion.
Addressed residents of Griftu town ahead of this year's Madaraka Day celebrations, the first ever to be held in Wajir County and the entire Northern Kenya.
@WilliamsRuto H.E @WilliamsRuto You have established an exceptionally high standard of performance and achievements as the president of the Republic of Kenya. It will be difficult for future presidents to exceed your performance level of leadership. Your predecessor is jealous of your legacy.
Housing project in Wajir. World class stadium. President @WilliamsRuto is making the forgotten parts of this country visible by taking roads, housing and infrastructure to these places. It’s a Happy Madaraka Day for Kenyans North Eastern since Kenya was born.
