However! Crime rates were already trending down. You think Mamdani is some kind of magician that can magically make crime rates drop despite taking office ~5 months ago?! 😂

The problem is that you're basing your data on partial reporting. For example, if you check the data for HATE CRIMES and Rape, those are UP! between 8.6% to 12% year-to-date (early 2026 data), with sharper spikes in May (literally last month), up 70~74% vs. May 2025, with 68 vs. 39 incidents.

Antisemitic incidents dominate (50~60% of total), with 41 in May alone (up ~70% from May 2025!), and 152 YTD.

And here's the thing! NYPD have adjusted reporting (distinguishing "reported" vs. "confirmed" which to me smells of intentional manipulation to make the mayor look better). But the upward trend holds across sources!

Rape incidents are up almost 7% YTD. Some reports note ~10% increases in early quarter (since he was elected).

Felony assault was flat, but went slightly up almost 0.5% in May.

As for the other stuff, I'm keeping an open mind, but I'm highly suspicious of Mamdani. Being bailed out by "lending" money from pension funds, just to balance the budget is horrible behavior in my book. And the state will have to pay it back with interest!
