They killed KPRL so they could import finished fuel at higher margins. They control the entire chain from Gulf suppliers to your pump. And they remain politically untouchable because they have successfully embedded themselves in every regime since Moi.

This is the real face of Kenya’s “fuel crisis.”

It is not caused by Iran, the Strait of Hormuz, or global oil prices. It is caused by a small, well-protected, politically hedged cartel that has captured the energy sector and is actively de-industrialising the country for profit.

Because they cannot compete in an open, merit-based environment, their entire strategy is built on suppressing the capable, the deserving, and anyone who could genuinely grow the economy. They capture political parties, own or control media houses, compromise the judiciary, and even weaponise the police.

It is up to ordinary Kenyans to name and shame these oligarchs wherever they appear — in your social circles, golf clubs, gyms, churches, mosques, and temples. Tell your children about them so they know exactly who they are dealing with if their paths ever cross. Shame them on social media. Send their details to independent bloggers. Make Kenya uncomfortable for them to live in.

They have thrived in darkness and silence for far too long.
