We are a chemistry research group at the University of Calgary. Our main interests reside in the relationship between electronic stucture and reactivity.
#OnTheBeamlines: This @ucalgary team is using our #BioXAS facility to study the electronic structure of molecular quantum bits, which are smaller & potentially easier to assemble than other quantum bits.

Awaiting the next session at #CSC2023 in room 114 for the continuation of a great symposium on the spectroscopy of complex systems.
Be here at 11:40am for Joseph's talk on pricing the electronic structure of transition metal-based molecular electron spin qubits...
It's rather amazing that we're still only staying to understand details of the thermal and photochemical reactivity of hemp-based natural products with medicinal properties...
Complex molecules = complex chemistry = lots of fun!

Super excited to share my Schlenk Line tutorial which is now online in @Orgmet_ACS 🥳
I hope that this tutorial will be a helpful resource to anyone performing or teaching air- and moisture-sensitive techniques!

This paper is the result of years of work from our undergrad Andrew Wang *in his spare time*. It took too long to get this published but getting to discuss it and its implications at the Faraday meeting is actually perfect. 2/2
Look: pi-backbonding in a halogen bond can enable catalysis... we're looking forward to the discussion at the upcoming @Faraday_D#NonCovalent https://t.co/VteMqhKHqE 1/2
Postdoc position available in Inorganic/Electrochemistry in our group @UCalgary . Candidates should send an email with their CV, cover letter, brief research summary, and two reference letter contacts to [email protected]. Start date ASAP.

We are saddened that the longest serving member of our group, Schnitzel, is no longer with us. She joined the group in 2013 and obtained her BSc in Food Science, her MSc in Barking, and her PhD in Lounging, while in the group. 🌈❤️
It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Schnitzel passed away earlier this evening. She was everything you could ever expect of a wiener dog: loving, proud, adventurous, and stubborn.
We will love you forever, Schnitt. ❤️❤️❤️
Congratulations to Hao Zhou from the group for successfully defending his thesis on Iridium-based water oxidation catalysis this afternoon at @UBCChem. Great job!
