Furthermore, it seems that theists are the ones who claim everything came from nothing.

Those of us who understand science know there is no absolute nothingness in science. “Nothing” refers to dynamic quantum vacuums that are absent of matter, but still have energy and fields and all the laws of physics still apply.

If someone says “god exists,” that’s a positive claim requiring evidence to support it.

If someone says “god does not exist,” that’s also a positive claim requiring evidence.

Now, if someone says “I believe (or don’t believe) god exists,” those are not claims requiring evidence.

I don't know if it's willful ignorance that so many fail to grasp the idea that terms can mean one thing in lay-language, and something different in science (e.g., theory, nothing, proof, etc.).
