This Club Brugge squad from 2021 is one of our favourite UEFA Youth League teams ever, a proper side that went toe-to-toe with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain to reach the knockout stage—and its 'hit rate' is remarkable.

▫️ Eight of the XI are now regulars in top-flight football, with Kyriani Sabbe, Lynnt Audoor, Cisse Sandra and Romeo Vermant currently first-teamers at Club Brugge

▫️ Antonio Nusa broke into the first team the season after, played 86 games, made his Norway debut, and was sold to RB Leipzig for €23 million in 2024

▫️ Arne Engels left for Augsburg without making a senior appearance but went on to play 51 games in the Bundesliga and be sold to Celtic for €13 million

▫️ The substitutes' bench included Jorne Spileers, another first-team regular right now, and the exciting Chemsdine Talbi, sold to Sunderland for €20 million in 2025

▫️ Rik De Mil became assistant then interim head coach of the first team the following season before becoming head coach at Westerlo, Charleroi, and is now at Gent

It is rare that an academy team has such an impressive hit rate, developing a majority that become top-flight starters for their first team and elsewhere, as well as generating well over €50 million in transfer fees. A huge success for the Club NXT pathway which continues to produce top-level talent.
