When a rather small and motley group of angry, frightened Albertans decides to march on the #ableg, carrying and wearing symbols of Trumpist racism, how should we react? Especially if what they are really seeking is attention and martyrdom?
Sounds like statement from the protesters' media relations..not our @edmontonpolice Seems to be some confusion on their role mayor @doniveson ??Many upset #yeg residents over this one.@CityofEdmonton needs to protect it's citizens #yeg#ableg#abpoli
Several hundred protesters converged on the Alberta Legislature for a rally today, the vast majority of whom exercised their freedom of expression peacefully and respectfully.
With many places warming up this week, I hope many of you will get the chance to get outside and enjoy the nice weather. Please continue to follow all health measures and remember that outdoor social gatherings are limited to 10 people and must not have an indoor component. (3/3)
Those who brought tiki torches to a daytime rally on a warm day knew exactly what message that would send.
This kind of hatred cannot be tolerated.
We are not in the middle of a lockdown. We are simply being asked to take some precautions to help our neighbours. #yeg#COVID19AB
If the low hundreds of protesters on an absolutely beautiful weather day was the absolute best they could bring out for their little tiki tantrum rally, can we all agree that we & the media are giving them a far, far larger platform than their support actually deserves?

Look at the professional, calm behaviour exhibited by my CityNews colleagues in the face of pretty heated and frankly dangerous rhetoric. I'm glad they're both ok and this is not acceptable.
NIce day for a drive to my anti-mask protest. I have no license, reg,or insurance and not wearing a seatbelt.I'm not hurting or endangering anyone.Thank you @jkenney@UCPCaucus for allowing every Albertan to feel they have freedom to do or say anything.#ableg#abpoli#COVID19AB
Other provinces are testing only a small fraction - less than 10% - of their positive COVID-19 cases for the variants of concern.
Alberta has dramatically ramped up variant testing and contact tracing to the point that we're testing all positive results for VOCs.

If Min. Shandro has different modeling that supports his statement, he should share it with Albertans.
Because without it, it appears he & Premier Kenney are making public health decisions based on political pressure, not scientific evidence. #ableg
A rather vocal counter protest down at the Alberta Legislature as the anti-restriction rally is slated to begin at any moment.
