Happy International Day of Forests. We commemorate this valuable day by planting & caring trees in Freetown CCD. The famous proverb “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now” stays so relevant all the time.
A meeting held with CD of Plans International Sierra Leone. Discussion focused on areas of mutual interest incl localisation, humanitarian response, one health, and community resilience. Such engagements are expected to add in meaningful humanitarian impact in any future disaster
Today held a meeting with DG NDMA along with #SLRCS on preparedness & prevention measures through Early Action Protocols for upcoming wet season from May-November. DG appreciated great work of NS/IFRC in Sierra Leone. All required actions are being coordinated.
Today, the Head of the @ifrc delegation in 🇸🇱, Dr Ghulam M Awan, paid a courtesy call to the WHO Country Representative in 🇸🇱, @nuwagira15 and held bilateral discussions including harnessing current and future opportunities to support the country.
Visited site of #SRCS Port Sudan branch warehouse along with @Xcastel USG #IFRC, NS leadership & HoD #Sudan. A substantial funding is needed to rehabilitate this warehouse which can be extremely valuable for ongoing operational support.
Met health minister of Guinea Dr. Mamadou Dillao along with NS leadership. Apprised minister about health related interventions by NS/IFRC. Discussed options of scaling up health related programs in country. Minister appreciated efforts of NS/IFRC, assuring full govt support.
Guinea is highly affected by climate changes & environmental degradation. Met environment minister Mme Safiatou Diallo with NS leadership & discussed PAI Tree planting & care and potential of Green Climate Fund to join hands in govt efforts to reduce climate induced impacts.
DREF implementation in progress for affected communities of fire incident in Menegue island of Guinea Bissau. Communities are being helped through construction material & conditional cash support. IFRC DREF

Meeting with H.E. Julius Maada Bio, President of Sierra Leone alongwith NS leadership. President was briefed about NS aux role, NSD and it's contributions at National level with active support and facilitation of IFRC & PNSs. A great acknowledgement done & support was assured.
More than one month following the massive earthquake, Türkiye & Syria are still struggling to pick up the pieces. Huge needs remain including mental health support.
