Keeping unused accounts for your handle across social media helps to combat the risk of losing access and having someone else spew shit with your name.
The fundamental issue any Twitter competitor hits is Gail’s Law: “all complex systems that work evolved from simpler systems that worked.”
But Twitter refugees will undoubtedly want feature parity from the get-go.

Toyota was a leader in hybrid cars. They totally missed the boat on fully electric cars. And now work to actively muddy the waters and even oppose fully electric car policies. Such a disappointment.
Without Twitter, Ahmaud Arbery’s killers would’ve never been arrested. George Floyd’s death, even with the video, likely wouldn’t have sparked national outrage.
Without twitter, we’re at the mercy of news outlets for reporting & you see how they publish police reports as fact.
