Science has proven that the closer you are to the gravitational center of the Earth the faster time goes. Hence your feet are technically in a different time zone than your head. So the next time you walk into a room and can’t remember why you’re there…well, give it a minute.
The tiny town, The Flat, that sprang up just outside of Fort Griffin is where the Old West truly began. Wyatt Earp, Doc Holiday, Big Nose Kate, Pat Garrett, both Jim & Bat Masterson, Lottie Deno, Dirty Dave Rudabaugh, and that skunk, John Selman all lived there before they moved to Hell’s Half Acre in Fort Worth then on West into history. Cool place to visit
Traces of Texas reader Francis Rourke was nice enough to send in this nifty photo of Shaunissy's Saloon at Fort Griffin. This is actually a replica based on photos of the original saloon, but it was built on the original saloon's foundation. This is the saloon in which Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday met for the first time, in 1877.
Thank you, Francis. Cool slice of Texas history!
@thealainajames Yes, politics is in a sad state.
But it’s not going to change itself if we allow the “Octopus” to continue down this path.
We have to force the Octopus to change or get rid of it like a rabid dog.
Never. Give. Up.
