@JasonAblin Most of the time I do. Especially with poetry. One it's fun to write, and two, there is a wide difference in my students comfort and access to their own creativity. My demonstrating vulnerability seems to encourage them to be vulnerable.

@IDEASOFICE_FIRE Are would go even further and say they were going for two different things altogether. Tolkien was trying to create a modern epic; not a form based on characterization, but rather stock characters. GRRM is more about the nuance of character, and the effect of perspective.
