I would love to be a single issue voter but I can’t - as much as I would love an unabashedly pro-Palestine candidate, i need a candidate who will protect my body autonomy, knows housing is a human right, pro-union, anti-war, anti-racist, pro-lgbtq, pro-education, pro-kids…
Not to be a brat or anything, but Harrison Butker kicks a football for a living. That’s his contribution to society.
His mom, on the other hand, is an accomplished physicist who’s spent her career in radiation oncology.
Maybe they should have invited her to give the commencement speech.
“Teachers knew what they were getting into!”
Actually, I didn’t.
I didn’t know that my teacher paid for the supplies I was using in class.
I didn’t know that my teacher was working extra jobs to survive.
And I didn’t see all of the unpaid hours of work they did at home.
@theDRAMAgoat1 We are required to ask that question in my district. I find that it helps distinguish whether a teacher is going to set boundaries but still have empathy in the end.
If your partner or spouse is a teacher they probably answer 2,000+ questions every school day.
So try to avoid asking them questions the minute they get home, especially questions like, “So what’s for dinner?”

Dear @GillianKeegan,
The saddest thing about working in education, at the moment, is that it’s getting harder and harder to recommend it as a career to other people.
It didn’t used to be that way.
Yours,
School Staff.
