@LiaSae and bluesky's tech isn't the worst option, on paper? They're all promising a lot and delivering far far less. Meta is reportedly preparing a thing, too. I want all of them to fail but if a single open standard rises from this battle I'll be happy.
@LiaSae Bluesky is hot garbage but their MIT-licensed protocol looks decent https://t.co/Bc8VUCwrfw. I've been keeping an eye on ActivityPub (W3C standard, Mastodon uses that, Tumblr too, soon, maybe) and Nostr (got its own W3C community group 2 days ago, is jack's other toy tech),
@ivanpapiol Very useful, this is good and important work, thank you! Is there a plain text version somewhere? That'd be easier to quote (and perhaps read, for some)
I've just put together a Manifesto about how I think we could make being in online spaces less dreadful, because with everything that's going on that feels more like a struggle than ever 🐉

@soerenjensen@ianhamilton_@AccidentalQ In any case, feedback like yours is really helpful! I can't say I've kept up to date with the state of the art on Switch as we don't have a game in production currently, but I'm certain there are more good examples to take inspiration from now than there were back then, too.
@soerenjensen@ianhamilton_@AccidentalQ Looking back on it now, I would move the option to the root level of the menu and have a single identifiable button, at least for the default double joycon setup. I know the Switch has button remapping options now as well, which would certainly be useful.
@soerenjensen@ianhamilton_@ross_minor@COWCATGames@AccidentalQ We made the Switch menus require less navigation to reach the screen reader setting, and relied on the console having a predictable input scheme (which other platforms do not). Better than most games or the console's own menus, but in hindsight, still a lacking compromise.
@soerenjensen@AccidentalQ@soerenjensen I couldn't find a thread on the audiogames forum, could you point me to it? There is an in-game option to enable text-to-speech in the menus, if it does not work it's an important bug and I need info to squash it 🙇♀️
@ianhamilton_@soerenjensen@ross_minor@COWCATGames@vol4life8657@AccidentalQ I fully admit that the experience is lacking on many fronts though, on Switch and other platforms alike (except maybe iOS), because turning on the screen reader and navigating the entire game is far from perfect. But noone should have to count the menus, on any platform.
