Director of Instruction - Inclusive Education for Nanaimo-Ladysmith Public Schools. A passionate advocate of inclusion and learning supported by technology.
#ICSEI2024@CarolCampbell4 Community.
Community of educators, authentically in community with families, building community with our Indigenous Relatives.
No amount of programs, person or computer interventions, well-rounded curriculums, grants, money, or (fill in the blank) will move numbers from Tier 2 & 3, unless your Tier 1 is a well-designed, learning centered force.
Tier 1 is the key.
Fix it first.
I'm not the Superintendent, but I'm pretty sure that if this was a weekday, we would be having a snow day. I hope everyone is having a terrific long weekend! Stay Safe! @NLPSLearns
#listeningleader Thinking about bringing humanity to virtual schooling through the question “What is it like to be you these days?” Thanks to @ShaneSafir and @huangjaz for some time in community and reflection today.
#nlpslearns At Rock City we practice inclusion by individually acknowledging and celebrating students' accomplishments because it gives each child a chance to shine.
#nlpslearns At Ladysmith Primary we practice inclusion by honoring a student's best efforts because we recognize each child learns at their own pace and with their own passions.
#nlpslearns At McGirr we practice inclusion by incorporating French and Hulquiminum into our daily morning announcements because it acknowledges/recognizes our 2nd official language and our local Indigenous language.
#nlpslearns At Randerson Ridge we practice inclusion by honoring and celebrating our diverse backgrounds through celebrations because we learn and grow acceptance and understanding by learning about each others' heritage.
#nlpslearns At Uplands we practice inclusion by offering many different extra-curricular activities because it is important that everyone feels connection/belonging.
#nlpslearns At Pleasant Valley we practice inclusion by honouring individual interests and strengths because we give them choice in what they are learning and how they share their learning whenever possible.
#nlpslearns At Ladysmith Int., we practice inclusion by making the library and all spaces a safe and inclusive place because lessons are taught to all classes using universal design, showing, respecting and encouragement to all diverse learning styles.
