Pynchon, Gilligan's Island, and Edwin Pauley: 🧵🧵🧵

Some of the best notes in the Exegesis are supplied by a small handful of scholars like Jeffrey J Kripal (scholar of religion at Rice) who has analyzed PKD as a key figure in modern "high weirdness," gnosticism, & the intersection of science fiction with mystical experience.
@AlexMaskill@BarryPierce Solenoid paperback is 640 pages, so maybe kindle pages are bit shorter? I’m asking cause i’ve never used kindle, but in any case no matter page count it’s the same book, so 16 hours 640 pages is 40 pages per hour..

@BarryPierce I’d say more like 7-10 hours. Average length 300 pages, 30-40 pages per hour if not rushing through but trying to appreciate the prose ? Of course, could be people consider 150-180 pages average

These examples are distinguished by bold, sculptural wooden arm supports.Massive side panels define their dramatic silhouettes, showcasing the era’s love of strong geometry and the expressive use of wood as both structure and decoration.
