People sometimes ask me why I so often write books no-one will want to read; the truth is I write books for the world that I wish existed, where people are interested in the things I wish they found interesting. Some day, maybe that world will exist: and my books will be there
sincere posting mode: every member of the jury just non-trivially increased their odds of being on the wrong end of political violence, all of them that weren't total morons know it, and they did this anyway. genuine moment of unironic courage.
Final thought: I do not know if the verdict will matter, but I think it *should* matter.
But I also think the instinct to mistake cynicism for wisdom and proclaim that 'of course nothing matters' can will that result into existence if enough people adopt it.
It ought to matter.
