@tedwrichards@SBarrettBar That makes it all ok then! What business model can sustain the increases independent schools have suffered? And yes, it has everything to do with ideology
@Oscargetsit@implausibleblog That won’t apply to all schools. Regardless, 24% over a decade is very different to adding 20% overnight. Increases can be a result of many external factors - general inflation, minimum wage rises, pension contributions etc. Schools are not rolling in profit, far from it
@implausibleblog I still can’t understand why it is the responsibility of independent school parents to pay even more towards the state system through VAT (immorally applied to education), when they already contributing via taxes and saving the government the cost of educating their children?
@jjulieanderson@anaboultertv Tax is proportionate to earnings. We are all subsidising education through tax, though arguably those paying for private education are paying twice. Contributing but not assuming a place, and then clobbered with VAT on top. Sounds fair?
@Karendu32435656@KemiBadenoch Eventually they might realise it costs more than it makes - and then perform another U-turn! However the policy is not about revenue, is it?
@anaboultertv@bphillipsonMP@EducationNotTax Apologise and abolish the TAX on EDUCATION! We all know this wasn’t about raising revenue…the damage done after just 5 months could be irreversible
