There was lots of excitement in Nursery today, as a host of small animals, and one not so small rabbit called Stan, came to visit during Pet Week. We found out how to look after them and what they like to eat.
Reception are learning about life cycles this term and Indian Runner Ducks, Tim Peck and Amelia Egghart (named after 2 pioneers the children were learning about last term) are enjoying a short stay at KES before moving to live at Mrs Wells’ smallholding.
Starting Nursery or Reception in September 2025?
Explore our Nursery and Reception classes at our next Open Morning to see how our youngest pupils thrive and develop a real joy of learning.

The whole of Pre-Prep, and our special guests from Twerton Infant School's Nursery, were spellbound by the tale of The Fisherman and the Genie, told through puppetry and performed so enchantingly by Tallulah Swirls today.
We so enjoyed the visit to school by author and illustrator, Tessa Cobb, as part of our #WorldBookDay activities this week. We read lots of Tessa's stories, including The Girl Who Walked to the Moon.
No stone was left unturned on Year 1's trip to Cardiff Castle recently. The children toured the castle and visited the keep. They took part in a workshop and tested out some real armour. The trip provided everyone with a chance to extend their learning on castles and knights.
As part of their 'Up, Up and Away to China' topic, Year 2 recently studied the story of the famous willow pattern pottery with KES specialist Art teacher, Mr Willison from the Senior School. They then created their own designs.

Nursery so enjoyed their visit to @AvonFireRescue today to help them learn about the important work carried out by firefighters as part of their 'People Who Help Us' topic.
There was lots of hands-on learning and nobody got too wet!

In Reception we had more fun with our 'Up, up and away' topic and were lucky to have a visit from a pilot, Captain Nicky today. The children had all thought of questions to ask Nicky and she was so impressed with their knowledge that they all earned their pilot's stripes!
Thank you to our Reception parents who led our learning about Chinese New Year today. The children listened to the story of the Great Race and found out what animal they were. This year is the year of the Dragon so the children enjoyed a dance with a very noisy dragon!
