So @cta, after waiting an extra 18 min for a delay, why was I told by the 8280 route 56 driver at 1:40 PM today that I couldn't board at State/Wash, had to walk a block to Madison/DBState, only to be picked up by the same driver and bus!?
Elijah McClain’s death at the hands of Aurora, Colorado police last August is among the most horrific cases I’ve ever seen described. He was 23, introverted, and doing absolutely nothing wrong. They killed him, and the prosecutor let them get away with it. https://t.co/2965Lldsbw
We don’t have to share a Black person’s positive attributes when conveying that they died unjustly at the hands of police.
A criminal background is no excuse for police brutality. Neither is sagging pants or a short skirt. Or a “bad attitude.”
Black people deserve to live.
Detroit glows purple tonight to stand with the Black community across the nation in demanding justice for George Floyd. As a first step in our goal to help root out intolerance, we'll be donating $10M to organizations promoting inclusion & racial justice. https://t.co/DQtKYtxveq
Cops aren't wearing their uniforms to and from work right now because they're afraid someone might attack them or their families. Can you imagine that? Living with a constant fear of being killed by a complete stranger because, to them, you look like a threat?
It's not just that the police officer did this without provocation. It's that he did it, on camera, safe in the belief he would get away with it.
It tells you everything you need to know. It tells you why so many are, rightly, so afraid.
