We too want a positive and constructive discussion on Statehood, there is no doubt that Statehood is BJP's agenda. Our stand is clear, we are also in favour of Statehood, but the wording used in this resolution is unacceptable. The basic structure of India's Constitution is secularism. When NC talks of so called autonomy and Pre 1953 its ironic, that same pre 53 resolution was thrown into the dustbin by India's Parliament when Omar Abdullah Sahab himself was a partner of BJP and a Minister, that chapter was settled then and there. What NC is doing today is against the basic spirit of the Constitution, and Article 370 is based on Jinnah's two nation theory which the parliament & supreme court have rejected.

The ruling party of Jammu & Kashmir, the National Conference, which had made huge promises and nowhere linked any promise to statehood, today, when people remind them of those promises, has set out to discuss pre-1953, talk about a separate flag and separate constitution, and talk about Article 370.

The same Article 370 which was dismantled by the Parliament of India, the same Article 370 which was settled by the Supreme Court—how can it be discussed here?

Is this Assembly bigger than the Supreme Court and the Parliament?…”

I challenge Omar Abdullah, if you have guts, bring a Statehood resolution, we will discuss it, Statehood is BJP's agenda, but Omar Abdullah does not want Statehood here. The same Article 370 that was buried and the same Pre 1953 resolution that Omar Abdullah himself threw into the dustbin while sitting in BJP's lap, NC now wants to bring back to sabotage Statehood, this will never be tolerated. Article 370 is gone, talking of two flags, two PMs, two Constitutions is illegal, unlawful and will not be accepted at any cost. I even question the Speaker's credibility for allowing it, we will not allow Pakistan's agenda to be made a platform in J&K Assembly. Statehood will be given by BJP to the people of J&K.

BJP is the only party that will give Statehood to J&K and is in favour of it and if anyone has sabotaged it, it is CM Omar Abdullah. What was the need to bring the issue of Pre 1953 position now? The same resolution his father got passed in this Assembly, his own son threw into the dustbin while sitting in the lap of BJP as central minister. Why rake up a rejected resolution again? It only means they don't want Statehood and want to sabotage it, but no matter how many conspiracies they hatch, the BJP Government will give Statehood to J&K.
