Honoured to have the State Minister of Youth and Arts join us for the Walk for Suicide Prevention. we are grateful to every participant who stood with us to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and encourage people to seek support. Together, let’s keep the conversation going. 💚
Today, MoS @XandrineUmutoni joined @kfaisalhospital, KTRC @ketamine70374, @RBCRwanda, partners, and young people for the Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk. One important message from today’s walk: a caring conversation can make a difference.
Asking someone if they are struggling, listening without judgment, and helping them seek professional support can be meaningful steps towards preventing suicide.
“Be the reason someone stays.”
These words, carried by participants today, remind us of our shared responsibility to create communities where people feel safe to speak about their struggles, where seeking help is encouraged rather than stigmatized, and where no one feels they must suffer in silence.
Mental health matters. Support is available. Recovery is possible.
If you or someone you know needs help in Rwanda, please reach out:
• 912 – SAMU Ambulance (24/7 emergency assistance)
• 112 – General Emergency Services
• 114 – Rwanda Biomedical Centre Health Call Centre (health information and guidance)
You do not have to face a crisis alone.

World Anaesthesia Day 2026
Today, we celebrate our Anaesthesia Heroes, the skilled professionals who play a vital role in keeping patients safe and comfortable before, during, and beyond surgery.
Our anaesthetists work closely with surgical teams to assess and prepare patients before procedures, carefully monitor and manage them throughout surgery, and support their recovery afterwards.
Their expertise, vigilance and compassion are an essential part of safe, quality surgical care.
To our Anaesthesia Team, thank you for being there every step of the way.
Happy World Anaesthesia Day!

Earlier this month, MoS @XandrineUmutoni attended an Open House at the Ketamine Treatment & Research Center (KTRC) at King Faisal Hospital, Kigali, to learn about its work in advancing innovative approaches to mental health care.
The visit provided an opportunity to explore collaboration on mental health awareness and support for young people and creatives.
As we mark Mental Health Awareness Month this October, we reaffirm the importance of breaking stigma, encouraging early help-seeking, and ensuring that no one feels alone in their mental health journey.
Today is World Mental Health Day.
Today, we encourage everyone to check in with themselves, reach out to someone they care about, and remember that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
No one should have to face mental health challenges alone.
September is Suicide Prevention Month.
As World Suicide Prevention Day approaches on 10 September, remember: ask directly, listen actively, keep safe, and be there.
A simple conversation could make a life-changing difference. #SuicidePreventionMonth
Suicide is not a conversation we should avoid—it is a conversation we need to have with compassion, understanding, and without judgment.
This World Suicide Prevention Day, let’s change the narrative around suicide. Let’s move from silence to conversation, from stigma to support.
October is World Mental Health Month.
Rwanda is part of that story. Across our communities, awareness of mental health continues to grow, and more people are speaking openly about challenges that once remained hidden.
This October, let's continue the conversation.
