Today, Doris Ogala, the AAC governorship candidate in Abia State, visited the office of the Abia State Structures for Signage and Advertisement Agency (ABSSAA) to confirm that the new, crazy hike in campaign permit fees by Governor Alex Otti and his government is true!

I struggle to believe that Governor Alex Otti would roll out such a harsh, undemocratic policy. N200m campaign fee for presidential candidates, N150m for governorship, N100m for senators? These can’t be said to be fees. The government is brazenly extorting money from politicians and encouraging corruption.

It is so sad to see this coming from Abia State. Alex Otti should be different. Now, he leaves me with mixed feelings about his second tenure!✍️

RIVERS YOUTH FOUND 18 YEARS AFTER DISAPPEARANCE

Gospel Kinanee, at 14 years old, left home one night and never returned. His family says their search for him took them to police stations, but to no avail.

His brother says the correctional centre where he has now been found was visited twice during the search.

With no formal trial or access to legal representation, the young Ogoni man, who went missing in 2007, was one of 21 inmates released from the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre when the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Amadi, flagged off the Rivers State Jail Delivery Exercise.

His family named him Gospel Kinanee, but the correctional centre has him in its records as Baridi Sunday.

Gospel Kinanee's mental health is now the subject of litigation.

SERAP gives Reps, Senators seven days to refund N110bn unlawful allowances

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has given Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas seven days to ensure that members of the Senate and House of Representatives refund all monies, allowances and benefits received under the N110 billion vehicle procurement and support allowance schemes declared unlawful by the Federal High Court.

SERAP made the demand following the Federal High Court's Lagos judgment in Suit No. FHC/L/CS/1606/2023, delivered by Justice Yellim Bogoro, which held that spending N40 billion on 465 vehicles for lawmakers and N70 billion in support allowances for newly elected members breached procurement laws, constitutional obligations and the public trust.
