Reflecting on life and the unfortunate death of Sydney…I can’t help but think he might have been a victim of entrenched wrong stereotypes that linger in our society including being a “muyaye” if you’re a male with dreadlocks or any unconventional hairstyle.
It’s hurting because the more you’re exposed or interact with different persons, you realize that these stereotypes don’t talk to the heart or character of a person.
Ironically; all those named in the mabati theft scandal all had clean cuts!
Someone once said,
“I’ve met some of the best people in bars and some of the worst people in churches.”
I’m tempted to believe that this stereotype played a role especially for persons who joined the mob without witnesses the alleged act.
But also more disturbing is why would you join a mob for something you didn’t see with the two eyes God gave you!
Even if you had seen it; that still wouldn’t justify you joining because you still wouldn’t have context without hearing the other side.
But even if you had context…what makes you have the right to take a life you didn’t give??
Pursuant, I was tempted to re-read the penal code act and specifically about the alleged offense (that was not committed) and found that it is not capital in nature and under the Ugandan laws carries a maximum punishment of 10years imprisonment!
Even the law even if he’d been found guilty wouldn’t be as vicious as these “human beings”.
The guy in a KCCA jersey that hit with a wooden log had a premeditated intention to kill and murder. The prosecutors are now charged with God’s work to ensure his charge is not reduced to manslaughter by all legal arguments available at their disposal.
RIP Sydney.
@Owishemwe@ZeeroBrain True but the docket of internal affairs is a powerful one. Much more than than the money. So he knows what he is chasing with the theatrics.
