It is hard to read long sentences quickly and to understand them. 2 suggestions:
1) Write slashes/in the sentence/like this/so you can/understand each part/as you read.
2) Read the sentences 3 times each. It's good reading practice, speeds up your reading, and helps understanding
Yes, reading with slashes is good practice even with tests that have a set time limit. Once you can smoothly understand with writing in slashes, take the next step and practice without slashes. Increasing your reading speed and understanding can be done in steps. Good luck!
